Location: at the four seasons Kyoto Ambiance: modern fusion not totally like a brasserie except for the red table linen. It's open to the lounge overlooking a 100 year old Japanese garden. And it has a fire place. Host: nice and accommodating. Service: great despite a bit of language barrier. Food: the menu has mostly French dishes with a Japanese section. What purplesque doesn't like about Four Seasons Brasserie:
the food was good but it took 50 mins before we were served and over an hour to get starters and then another 45mins to get mains. we were patient but it was a ridiculous wait!! we were given no explanation at all and other diners were having the same experience. wouldn't go again View all feedback.
Host: Pleasant and helpful. Service: Great despite a bit of a language barrier. Food: The menu features French dishes with a Japanese section. I tried the French dishes, they were all delicious; including the salad, burrata cheese, truffle pasta, and dessert. Their special cheesecake is a must-try, it is smooth, light, and full of flavor. Price: Expensive
I was very impressed with the breakfast and dinner at this clean, well-run restaurant with friendly and smiling staff who couldn't do enough. For dinner, I chose the black pudding, rosti, and poached eggs, perfectly cooked to prepare me for perhaps the most delicious duck breast I have ever eaten. A bit odd that they kept the cooked taste was succulent and perfectly defined, well done chef. The Madagascar Vanilla cheesecake was the Pud (there is something else), nice, but nothing to write home about. However, the duck was exceptional, a meal that I believe came to around £26 for three courses which doesn't seem bad to me. The breakfast was magnificent, very well-prepared and presented, not something you come across often, the food was also served on hot trays, arranged with care which made a difference, once again, the chefs did a great job and the team backing them up.
The food was good, but it took 50 minutes before we were served and over an hour to get appetizers and then another 45 minutes to get main dishes. We were patient but it was ridiculous to wait that long!! We were not given any explanation and other diners were having the same experience. I would not return again.
We called to make a reservation at the restaurant and were told that we didn't need to make a reservation because the restaurant wasn't full, just to come when we were ready. So around 7:50 pm we arrived at the restaurant, were seated, given three menus and told they would bring another as we were four. The other menu never arrived. We then sat for 30 minutes and were completely ignored by all restaurant staff!!! So we left and went to a nearby pub instead where the service was fantastic. Absolutely mediocre, I definitely would not recommend the restaurant aside from that the hotel passed by perfectly.
The service was good, I had a sirloin steak (very well prepared and a good piece of meat) not many chips, Apple and cinnamon dessert was very nice. My only criticism is that it seemed to be hidden in a corner of the reception that was cordoned off with screens and did not seem like a proper restaurant, but overall, the experience was not bad.
