The coffee was also a nice suprise although we did order an extra half shot as I always find Coffee Clubs coffee to be milky with no taste of coffee at all)
Fantastic friendly staff and great food and atmosphere and has its own parking. Very glbt friendly
Better than expected. Having had a few bad experiences before with the Coffee Club I was a bit sceptical about returning but they offered a voucher which was too good to refuse. Although there was a little confusion to start with as to what was actually included in the voucher, once that was sorted the rest of our evening went along without any problems. The garlic bread to start and both our steaks were tasty and I especially loved the chips and the pepper gravy. I wouldn't come here for the best steak in town but for a casual dining experience it was enjoyable.
Great Evening Out!. Relaxing, but fun atmosphere, great patio, pretty good food, but what really made the evening wonderful were the staff, who were very attentive and a lot of fun to interact with. It was these two gentlemen, Brian and Beau, working that evening May 24) that completely made our night!<br/ <br/ My partner and I had a Scoopon for the Coffee Club in West End and were looking forward to trying it as we have had coffees and wraps at other locations, but not really a meal in the evening. Our voucher entitled us to garlic or herb bread, 2 mains and 2 beverages.<br/ <br/ This location has both indoor and outdoor dining, and in that there were two large groups inside, we thought the patio might be a little quieter. Moments later our waiter, Brian, appeared with menus and went over our voucher with us. He was a blast and we found him quite funny to interact with! My partner and I knew that this was going to be a fun evening!<br/ <br/ We first started by ordering a glass of wine each and then had the difficult decision on choosing the garlic or herb bread. “What are the herbs” my partner wanted to know. “If I tell you, I’ll have to kill you” came the reply from Brian. “You guys are like the Colonel and won’t give away your secrets!” I responded. We were all having fun at the good natured conversation. Brian did find out for us, however, that the herbs on the bread were “oregano” by itself. So that’s what we ordered.<br/ <br/ Our wines came out next and mine, a chardonnay, had a nice body without being too oaky and my partner’s Shiraz was smooth and without any acidity.<br/ <br/ Our oregano bread came out and it was not how we imagined an herb bread would look like: The bread was like some sort of pizza base with dried oregano dumped on top. There was so much oregano that it looked dark green. I was scared to sneeze because all of the oregano would have blown off. It did taste better than it looked, however, with quite a mild taste, but it just seemed a bit odd to eat doughy bread with dried leaves on it, crunching between your teeth. It was alright, but I certainly wouldn’t order this again.<br/ <br/ Our mains came out a little while later. I had the Chicken Mignion with salad and chips $23) and my partner had gone for the Eye Fillet with Shrimp with honey carrots, grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes $29).<br/ <br/ My meal contained a huge chicken breast, generously wrapped in bacon. The chicken was tender and juicy and the bacon was a better cut, like side or back bacon, as there were no fatty bits on it. So delicious! The chips were of a thicker cut, and had a nice golden outside. Covered in the right amount of seasoning salt, these were a very tasty treat! The salad was fresh and ample enough to make my mother proud that I was eating my veggies!<br/ <br/ My partner had ordered the eye fillet rare, but it did come out overcooked. It was definitely medium-rare and only slightly juicier when getting to the middle. Unfortunate, but still delicious and tender. The honey carrots didn’t seem like they had any sweetness to them at all, but the grilled asparagus was cooked perfectly, with a slight crispness to them. The mashed potatoes were okay, but went well with the sauce from the steak. For $29, this wasn’t the best value on the menu.<br/ <br/ It was Beau that came out next and we got into a lively conversation with him, too. Although we were finished and thinking about going, he talked up their desserts which got my partner’s attention. With a Mud Cake $6.90) ordered I thought I should partake and get myself a Long Black $2).<br/ <br/ The mud cake and coffee arrived at about the same time. I thought the mud cake looked a bit small. Regardless, my partner devoured it and practically licked the plate clean! My long black was great, as per usual. I find that Coffee Clubs make a wonderful coffee consistently every time!<br/ <br/ We went in to pay our bill and saw that there was a $1.10 charge for warming up the dessert. Really? And what does that $1.10 pay for? The more intensive labour to put the dessert into the microwave? How stupid. I hate it when a restaurant does cheap things like this and adds them to ones bill with a ridiculous name! That being said, in the end it was okay as Brian and Beau had been so fabulous that we were going to leave them a tip, but with the warming up fee, we left it at that.<br/ <br/ Although some of the things in the evening weren’t perfect, it was the hospitable and fun naturedness of our waiters who made all the difference in the world to the experience we had at Coffee Club! With attention and service like they provided, we will happily return!
