Reviews - Bramble Hare
Reviews summary
Bramble and Hare captivates diners with its cozy atmosphere and a promising farm-to-table concept; however, recent reviews suggest inconsistency in both food quality and service. While some guests laud the unique flavors and exceptional cocktails, others express disappointment at overcooked dishes and inattentive service. The fixed-price three-course menu, though luxurious, raises concerns about value for the portion sizes. Amidst the critiques, the restaurant’s commitment to organic ingredients and a warm ambiance remains a highlight. For those seeking a romantic outing, Bramble and Hare could still deliver memorable experiences, provided the kitchen and service improve.

I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Bramble Hare. The ambience is great, love the cosy cubicles for small groups. The restaurant has a very Warm classy feel. The food was fantastic, I had gnocchi, the Lamb with polenta and roots finishing with crème brûlée. We will be back! View all feedback.
What Lili dislikes about Bramble Hare:
Old fans of Bramble and Hare, we were severely disappointed last night. Nothing tasted fresh, or farm to table, except the bread. The French Onion Soup was a poor imitation. My lamb dish with polenta was cold, and the polenta overcooked and hard. The lamb was well done, tasteless. The deserts were just OK. While we dined, the cooks were setting up the deserts and meals on the bar top, ahead of time, making it obvious... View all feedback.

I found this place during my planning for a 5500 mile road trip. I could not be more amazed. The place is whimsical not fancy. We were lucky to be near the kitchen to watch the chef. This was our second night of our trip and what a joy. We ate too much but it was all fresh and fantastic. Great for people like me GF.
Probably the best restaurant we have eaten at in Boulder! The food and the service were top notch. Definitely recommend. The pork belly and chocolate moose were our favorites!
I have never written a negative review for a restaurant before but I thought it necessary as a tale of caution after the experience I had. The atmosphere is cute and cozy, but the food is absolutely disgusting. I have no idea how they achieved a Michelin designation. The service was fine, but not great. For $75 a person, I expect the food to be really exceptional. My husband and I could barely finish our dishes because they tasted so bad. The main course was basically just a roasted head of cauliflower with some bland sauce that had no flavor. It was also quite cold which was disappointing. The chocolate cake dessert was so bad my husband couldn’t even eat half of it because it was so bitter and hard to swallow. He’s got a huge sweet tooth and I’ve never seen him not eat a desert. They also brought out a bowl of seasonal veggies and they tasted burnt even though they didn’t appear to be. I seriously question the merit of a chef that cannot make a vegetable taste good. My husband and I are both foodies and seek out fine dining experiences all over the world, and this was the worst meal I’ve ever had at an upscale establishment. What a huge bummer : I was really rooting for this place to be good because I liked the atmosphere so much.
It was good not great. The problem we found was a lack of consistency. Some dishes were excellent Salmon main, deserts some were good gnocchi, beets, charcuterie but the Lamb as average at best. Additionally the almost complete lack of Non alcoholic drink consideration for a front range is baffling one bland NA beer and a poorly crafted NA cocktail for $12. We will try again but not for a while.
Wife's salmon was so overcooked it looked like a chicken breast. I'm pretty sure the lamb dish was actually tripe. And a random hunk of inedible bone. Whatever it was it was unrecognizable and also cooked to beyond well-done. Deconstructed creme brulee had shards of rock-candy like sugar on top that stuck into your mouth and gums. The only farm-to-table aspect was a carrot stick on every entree by the server's own admission. The emperor has no clothes, but it'll cost you >100/person to find out for yourself. Two stars for cozy atmosphere and an attentive server.

Bramble and Hare is the BEST—cozy ambience, inventive and delicious menu, attentive service, and always a reliable good time.
We loved our dinner at Bramble and Hare — we were the last reservation of the night during a snowy winter storm warning, and the dining room was so cozy and inviting, and the staff so friendly and warm, that it really did feel like stepping out of the cold and into a friend’s kitchen. The turnips were our favorites, though all the dishes were delicious. We noted that we were dining out for a special occasion, and the staff made our meal extra special with sparkling wine and “just married” written in chocolate on our dessert plates : thanks all!
Good food and a great ambiance. The price/quality relationship could be better though... don't think it's work $70 per person

Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable and unforgettable. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the wine was fantastic. I highly recommend trying the Wy'East Vineyards 2013 Blue!
What an amazing spot! I absolutely love the ambiance, and the staff is fantastic! Phil and Griffin really crafted some delicious drinks!
Absolutely one of my favorites in Boulder! Amazingly fresh, fantastic service, and very reasonable. Highly recommended

This has always been our go to place in Boulder and it is a special place for us. We were so very disappointed last night. For a Thursday evening, it was slow. The food was definitely sub-par. The French Onion soup was thin, the gnocchi with lamb ragout tasteless. Gnocchi was not seasoned well. My husband had the salmon and I had the lamb plate with polenta. The lamb was way overcooked, dry and tasteless. The polenta was hard, and cold. The carrots inedible. While I found the deconstructed creme brulee tasty, my husband, who has a sweet tooth, left half of his supposed tira misu on the plate. The service was good, but the waitress was busy and we were brought the meal by the kitchen staff, who tried hard but obviously had no experience. It looked like all meals had been either prepared too much in advance, or reheated. There was nothing farm to table about this meal, and like I said, it is the place we got to when in Boulder. It's a pricey place, but even if it had not been, the meal was unacceptable. We are unlikely to go back.

The experience was wonderful! Drinks were great, food was fantastic! The sunchokes were my favorite part and were absolutely delicious! What a unique dish! The gnocchi was good, but not better than any other restaurants gnocchi. The salmon dinner was out of this world! Lamb chops were good as well, but not exactly what we were expecting. They were cooked almost like pot roast, but was very delicious and super tender. The only part of the meal that was less than underwhelming was the chocolate cherry dessert. It was dry and gritty, and not fudgey like most other chocolate tortes I've had. Would have gone with another dessert if any others were gluten free. The service was excellent and fun, and the drinks (and drink suggestions) were on point! Great experience all around for a decent price for the quality of the food! Would recommend for a special date or holiday, and we will absolutely be back!
Really lackluster service. Our waiter did not want to engage. We did not feel welcome. The overwhelming accoutrement and sauces detracted from the salmon filet. The timing between plates was very slow, and although we accounted for 2 hours for a 3 course meal, we were 30 minutes late to our show. Also the staff asked twice if we had any celebrations, and we let them know it was my sister's birthday, but they did nothing to acknowledge this. Overall the experience would have been a lot better had the service been even 10% better.

I’ve been to Bramble Hair many times and have always had an amazing experience. This time they just didn’t hit the mark.

Absolutely incredible on every level. Top 5 most memorable meals of my life. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
So I know this review is going to be different than a majority of the other reviews here. This was our first time here and we had extremely high expectations as it was highly recommended by a long time Boulder resident. When we first walked in we thought the atmosphere and decor was absolutely charming. Our waiter, Joe was super kind, cool, and funny. He called the accent of the other waiter, douchy which cracked us up because it was. this added to Joe’s credibility and very relatable personality. My appetizer of gnocchi with white Ragu was absolutely delicious and I would go back for it. However, my entrée had so many issues with it I was shocked it came from the same kitchen. Practically raw carrots that were supposed to be roasted. Unseasoned, assorted vegetables. The salmon itself was cooked perfectly, however. My boyfriend ordered quail, stuffed with lamb sausage, and it was very very dry. The assortment of vegetables that came on his plate were similar to mine. Some undercooked, some under-seasoned, and all of them fairly boring. My dessert was a hard tart shell filled with raspberry custard that was seedy and overly sweet topped with a passion fruit mousse type thing that was lacking flavor on all levels. My boyfriend thought his chocolate dessert was OK however. Our bill with wine and gratuity was $300 and it was definitely not worth it. However, the idea that this restaurant grows all of its own produce, and some of its meat on its own farm is really cool!
Phenomenal experience!!!! This was a complete culinary and esthetic experience. Every bite was delightful. Service was personable. Worth every penny! Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
3 stars for the overall experience of a $150 per person meal. Poor service (40 mins to take our order, spilled wine on the table, didn’t have half the wines on the wine list, only got one water glass because the others “were dirty”, waited 15 mins for reservation) food was fine, with the exception of dessert which came out melted and a mess like it had been plated an hour before. Honestly it was an ok experience that I won’t endure again for the cost of service. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
I’d give this 6 stars if I could! Incredible experience from start to finish. Food truly tasted far more fresh than many other restaurants I have been to in the States. Very fair price for 3 generous size courses. HIGHLY recommend!! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Amazing! Great customer service! Everyone was really friendly and courteous. Food was delicious
We came here for my birthday, and the overall experience was really great. We were incredibly fortunate to have had Mike as our server and bartender, and he took such great care of us. If you want an elevated experience, we’d highly recommend the Bartender or Baller’s Choice, especially if you have Mike. Everything was so thoughtful, high quality, and delicious. We will be making this a staple for our Boulder trips going forward. Thank y’all for such a great night!
This place is incredible. Great cocktails and wine list. Charcuterie board went above and beyond. 3 course meal that was enough to serve 2 people for $68?? Not to mention how cool the place is. Get this chef a James Beard award.
I had an outstanding farm-to-table dining experience. The food and wine pairings were excellent, and the limited menu featured some of the best combinations of flavors and seasonings I've ever encountered. Don't forget to leave room for dessert! We all took home about half of our entrees, and they were just as delicious when reheated!
The food was very fresh and clearly reflects a farm-to-table concept. My only issue is that the clientele seemed rather uniform. The service was exceptional, and the dishes were delicious, featuring some exquisite touches and thoughtfully curated choices. However, the quail was a bit small and slightly overcooked, but it wasn't a major problem.

Phenomenal. From the service to the food to the sommelier to the wine pairing, we had the most fantastic evening. Summer squash soup Beet salad Spring rolls Caramel panna cotta
While visiting Boulder from Texas, I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and was fortunate enough to find a parking spot right out front. It was a delightful surprise! The cozy and inviting atmosphere contributed to a wonderful dining experience. In the two hours I spent there, I only noticed one person on their phone, which speaks to the ambiance. The three-course meal for $38 was absolutely fantastic, and the service was top-notch. This meal ranks among the top five dining experiences of my life, and I can't think of a single way it could have been improved.
I visited this lovely restaurant yesterday for dinner and drinks, and it was fantastic! The dinner was outstanding, particularly the salmon dish, which is hands down the best I've had this year. The fresh corn, tomatoes, and other vegetables really elevated the dish. I highly recommend trying it! Although the bar is small, it has a very cozy atmosphere. Melody, who manages the bar, crafts some delicious signature cocktails that are definitely worth trying. They make for a perfect start to your meal. This restaurant is a hidden gem that you definitely don't want to miss!
I had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The three-course meal was truly delicious. Although the menu had limited choices, I found it hard to decide because everything sounded appealing. The ambiance is remarkable, featuring intimate seating arrangements and cozy love seats, with thoughtful drapery that creates a private dining atmosphere at each table. However, the service staff appeared somewhat disorganized, as they had difficulty remembering who ordered which dish. The desserts were also delightful, with the orange cake standing out as my favorite among the ones I tasted. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience.

This restaurant has been on our must-visit list for years, but we hesitated due to the prix fixe menu. Don’t let that hold you back – you should definitely dine here sooner rather than later! We went with some friends from out of town and truly enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. The ambiance, the energy from our waiter, and the delightful drinks contributed to a relaxed and cheerful evening. Speaking of drinks, this is a craft cocktail venue, and we loved trying the various creations on offer. The favorite among our group was the Linen Suit, a Scotch-based cocktail featuring fig and other intriguing ingredients. The menu changes frequently, so be adventurous and explore! For appetizers, we sampled the soup, beet salad, and fried green tomatoes. Everything was tasty, but the fried green tomatoes really stood out for their unique preparation and flavor. For the main courses, most of us opted for the beef dish (ribeye served with polenta and vegetables), while one person ordered the rabbit. Everyone was pleased, and there were no leftovers to bring home! For dessert, I can only speak for the Hazelnut Mousse paired with flourless chocolate cake – it was absolutely exquisite! Overall, Bramble Hare offers great value for its prix fixe menu. It’s now officially on our list of go-to places for special occasions and gatherings!
