The basement reeks of old food and is very hot. Made the fact that the food was tasty hard to enjoy. We had a large party (8 diners) and had attempted to make a reservation by phone a few days ahead; we were told they would not accept any reservation for more t... read more We had a large party (8 diners) and had attempted to make a reservation by phone a few days ahead; we were told they would not accept any reservation for more than 4 diners. So we booked two table of 4, requesting that we might be seated close to each other. The maître d' initially told us upon our arrival (fifteen minutes before the 7:15 reservation) that this request would be impossible on a busy Saturday evening. However, to our delight he came back shortly to inform us that if we were willing to wait a few extra minutes, he would be able to seat us all at one table, as another party had cancelled at the last minute. This elevated our experience to a very pleasurable one! The service, wine cocktails, and food were all excellent; I allot each of those areas five stars. I have taken one star off the ambiance, only because we were seated downstairs by the wine cellar where it was both a bit chilly and the music coming from the speaker above increased the challenge of hearing and conversing at a comfortable rate. We would certainly recommend Villa Francesca to anyone looking for a lovely dining experience, and we will likley be coming back ourselves!
