The food was definitely authentic. We had pasteles, alcapurrias for appetizers and they were very good. We also had chicken empanadas for appetizers and unfortunately they were a little dry. I was somewhat disappointed because I had the grilled snapper and it was a little dry also. My husband liked his food very much however the chicken was cold. I think the staples are there but they can do a little better. The plac... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Vejigante:
excellent restaraunt. eating is as authentic as everywhere. so authentic that my dame, which is puerto rican, had actually been drinking in her eyes. She said it was because eating was cooked exactly as her mother and grandmother made and it's years ago that she had PR food so authentic. we were twice in two weeks and complained to be there more often. this place is simply excellent. Excellent good and service is this restaurant a treasure!
This place is a gem. Incredible food. Creative. Well prepared. Service is great.
Not the Vejigantes I remember. I used to live in the area and I remember Vejigantes being the top Puertorrican restaurant in Boston, but after this visit I will not ever come back. I was really looking forward to treating myself with a nice dinner and Vejigantes was my first stop after landing in Logan from California. The service was slow and inattentive. We had multiple appetizers including the ensalada de pulpo which was really good. The main dishes were super super salty; to the point I couldn’t even finish it. The mofongo tasted like pure salt and felt like it was made many hours prior. But the food wasn’t the biggest disappointment. As we are wrapping up and taking care of the check we see a RAT cross the room and go under the seat bench that is against the wall. Not a mouse, A RAT! I don’t intent to cost them business, but I hope my experience serves as a concern to improve quality and Vejigantes be what I remember 6 years ago was.
Mofongo and rice were dry , meat under cooked. Service not great. We were looking for
We dined outside on a beautiful day, and the experience was fantastic. The "La Imagínate en Colombia" drink was incredible, and the mofongo, along with the roasted pernil served in a plantain basket, was delicious. They even offer pasteles, which anyone from Puerto Rico knows take a lot of effort to prepare! Whenever I'm craving my Puerto Rican food fix, this is definitely my go-to spot!
