It's a good place to go with friends as it's not... read more Tavalo has been one of our favorite restaurants in Dorchester. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with a cool vibe. It's a good place to go with friends as it's not noisy and therefore conversation is easy. Sadly, we didn't have the best experience the other night. Our waiter, although very nice was not exceptionally attentive. we had ordered an appetizer before dinner that didn't arrive until our dinner was served (we sent it back... . The food was good but the chicken marsala was so salty it overwhelmed the marsala. The waiter ordered her another which came quickly and tasted much better (also, her meal was taken off our bill along with the appetizer . The chicken piccata was also a bit salty but edible. I think the next time I order I will make sure the cook doesn't add salt, or at least very little. We didn't have pizza but my wife and I love their mushroom pizza. There are many other good items on the menu and although the other night was kind of average overall, I would go there again. PS The manager (who we know and is great somehow found out we were having dinner and sent us some complimentary desert.

The salads a... read more Tavolo is an excellent neighborhood restaurant. We’ve become hooked on the pasta alla Norma, but we make an effort to explore other dishes as well. The salads are tasty and perfect for sharing. So far, we’ve had nothing but positive experiences with both the food and the service.

We always choose to sit at the bar or at the high tables because the atmosphere is much more relaxed. The bartenders and staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is excellent.
