What a fantastic little gem! I've visited this place several times and was always eager to try it. They have an extensive wine list, and the salmon I ordered was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sip Wine Kitchen:
Good food and wine. But food is overpriced, $17 for two tacos? On top of that they charge you another glass of wine in random fees (food fee, liquor fee, and gratituity). But my girlfriend really liked the vibe. Relatively quiet for the location and the extra drink was the price of a glass of wine at tgi Friday 's. View all feedback.
Review based on falling on a Friday night at 7:30 for drinks after dinner in Shojo (on the way). Sip has been in the neighborhood for more than 10 years, so it was time to check it. Pros: The drinks. Leave it Linger, served in a Martini glass, a kind of cosmos with champagne, a little sweet, needed a little more BalanceNotorious F. I. G., a really nice whisky drink, seasonal with vanilla and all spices. Rhythm of night, Tequila/Rotwein/Aperol/lime. Creative and very good. Negative: Vibe. It just doesn't happen. Bar doesn't seem entirely designed to interact with others. But maybe it felt like it was empty? We had no food so we could not comment on Sips virtues as a restaurant. There is a story of great reviews of food. We can come back for dinner because we really want this to be a winner, it must have a lot for it, as it has survived in the theatre district for 10 years.

Visited sip last week. The waitress was very abrupt and rude. Told her we were under a time constraint because we had tickets to a show. We had also purchased a VIP experience so we needed to be at the show earlier than normal showtime. We had ordered an appetizer and the waitress said she would hold our meals we said no thank you and explained that we were going to a show she said yeah everybody here is going to the same show you don't need to leave until 7:00. We tried to explain we had a different experience but she just walked away and chose to hold our meals anyways, she was very abrupt throughout the meal. The food was okay. Overpriced Boston Theater District menu, tiny portions. Taco dish comes with 2 small tacos, 1 sliver of meat in each, no side. Also they take cheap wine that sells for $14 in the store and marks it up to $50. The average markup on a bottle of wine is 200 to 300% they are marking up over 400%. Best part of the whole experience was the espresso martini so yeah for the bartender.
Honestly three stars is very generous! Wine and Sangria were good. Meatball app had tasty meatballs and portion was good. But a bit plain, needs embellishment, garlic toast points with fresh oven dried tomatoes. Shrimp on soaked bread with sauce? My wife did not like. Needs a remake....serve with foie Gras and cranberry creams (Vin blanc), roasted mushrooms and a little fried polenta. My dish, chicken parmesan was horrible, fried chicken, burnt on the bottom, chicken was too thick, mozzarella poor quality and over cooked. On the pasta with red sauce the chef does not know to finish this dish ala minute. Should take pre blanched pasta, place in hot Rolling water for one minute, then throw into a hot saute pan with olive oil, sizzle for 20 seconds, add enough sauce so its very moist on the plate, add parmesan on the plate, have it a little saucy. Mine was dry, no flavor, no sauce....tough to eat with the dry chicken! Very disappointing! almost gross...FYI, our dinner bill was $100 with 18% gratuity. Not particularly expensive for downtown Boston, but over priced for our experience and food quality. But maybe that's what theater restaurants do.Our server was very nice.
Had dinner here before the theater and the experience could not have been better. We had the tuna on crunchy rice and the tempura shrimp bowl. We also had a very nice inexpensive wine which escapes me now but was recommended by a very nice bartender. We sat at the high top near the bar and it was very lively and fun also the prices were really good! Can't wait to go again pre-theater.
