In A Nutshell: -Purple Shell is one of the BEST Japanese restaurants I've ever eaten at. -They have very unique presentation styles. -The food not only looks good, but it tastes extremely good too. -This place should earn a Michelin star+ -Check out all of the photos to see all the delicious dishes we ordered. -The location is off the Broadway T stop is very easy to get to find. -You can also walk from Seaport along the Harborwalk which takes about 20minutes. Overall, come grab a meal here if you are in Boston, you won't regret it, but you will if you don't come!
I was looking for a special place to spend my birthday and decided on Purple Shell. I don?t really enjoy driving into Boston anymore as it can be really overwhelming but I figured it was a special occasion and so I forged ahead. We made a reservation for 7:30 and when I arrived there was a crowd of people around the hostess desk. Complete chaos!! People yelling that they had reservations and why weren?t they seated, fighting back and forth with each other and with the host.I was really starting to feel I may have made a mistake coming here. HOWEVER understanding that many restaurants are understaffed right now I attempted to remain calm and actually apologized to the host for the other peoples unnecessarybehavior. Eventually I checked in as well and was told they would seat me ASAP. Service was extremely slow and we spent about 3 hours in total here but I had expected it. The food was tasty when it did eventually come out. Fresh sushi andincredible drinks. I was very impressed with the quality and flavor. My recommendation is to try to go here on a weekday and to make sure you make a reservation before you head over. Be patient with the staff as there is only so much theycan control.
Amazing restaurant?perfect for a fancier dinner setting. The inside is gorgeous and the presentation of all the food was so nice! The taste certainly lived up to the appearance. We really loved the fire salmon, but we also got various other dishes all of which were so good. It is expensive, but definitely recommend for a nice occasion.
Glad this place got rid of the weird nightclub vibes. I only do pickups now, but how difficult is it to mess that up too? I arrive at the restaurant and after a waiter watches me stand at one end of the restaurant for 5 minutes, he tells me to go to the front of the restaurant. Then, I tell the girl at the front my name, and she doesn’t check the food that’s already next to her and says the waiter is going to go get it and disappears. Uhh, when did you guys have the chance to communicate that because he doesn’t know my name? She comes back and I have to ask her to take a look at the orders next to her before she reluctantly says one of them is mine. No sorry for making you wait or whatever. Quality in service is way different from when this place opened doors. Don’t recommend. Owners need to come back to run the show. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30
I asked waiter for menu, first time, he brought me check, I told him the menu with my hand drawing a squire hope he could understand, then he gave me two mayo dipping sauce. Finally after I told him third times, he showed the menu. Fire salmon, Caly pot and fried rice were all taste great.
