Legal Sea Foods started in 1950 as a fish market in Inman Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The name Legal became known for its exceptional quality and freshness. In 1968, our first seafood restaurant opened next to the fish market. The fish was simply prepared by broiling or frying and served on paper plates at communal picnic tables. Despite the casual ambiance, the food was exceptional, leading to rapid word-of-mouth success. Legal Sea Foods Downtown Crossing is inspired by the urban environment of its neighborhood, featuring a sleek, dark, and modern design with glossy black brick complemented by glowing amber glass. Our lounge area occupies half the restaurant, while the dining room offers a view of the open kitchen. During warmer months, we open our patio along Avenue de Lafayette.
