Tucked away in Boston, this restaurant elicits a mixed bag of reviews. Complaints about automatic gratuity and inflated prices overshadow the culinary experience. Despite some dishes being flavorful and satisfying, patrons have found the overall value inconsistent. The restaurant's reputation teeter-totters on the edge as those who enjoy the food grapple with reports of unfriendly staff and cleanliness concerns. Was John J at Dumpling Palace a mag?
My family stopped by this restaurant for a quick meal after arriving in Boston. The host, who was also the owner's wife, was friendly and talkative. The restaurant was clean and the Taiwanese style food was surprisingly delicious. The pork chop, beef noodle soup, and soupy dumplings were all well-executed. The stinky tofu was a lighter version compared to what I'm used to in Taiwan, but it still satisfied my taste bu... View all feedback.
What Gearóid Solan dislikes about Dumpling Palace:
The food at this restaurant was terrible. I discovered a hair in my food and the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, refusing to assist me with the problem. I will not be returning to this awful place. View all feedback.
Excellent eating after a long day. we had the fuzhou reisnudel and the xiaolongbao, and it was delicious and filled. will be coming back
Its my go to place when I wanted fried rice. I usually order yang chow fried rice and oyster pancake.Pros: food is good. price is average.Cons: The younger waitress is rude and usually moody (toxic) so we prefer the other waitress. We went in once when it was winter. She Ordered us in Mandarin to sit at the corner by the doorway bc we were 2 people and other tables were set up for parties but there wasn't anyone there.. I told her we don't want that corner seat, ignored her and sat at our usual spot. She even told us to speak in her language. I do speak her language but I dont want to. I disregarded her.I hate that when Chinese see another Asian person and start to scold at you in their language thinking they are slick and can have their way with you. Then they stick there nose into your business while asking bordering boundary questions that makes you extremely uncomfortable like why wear your hair this way .Even if I do or don't speak their language it shouldn't matter.. I would still speak English bc some people tend to erase respect in there comfort language and get aggressive crossing the line. Then they look at you and start to know that they should respect you keep your distance with them.[I feel sometimes you need to put people in their place to let them know how you ought to be treated. Unfortunately in Boston there are quite a few more places that erase the line that you set. So you have to go through all the way showing them the consequences when people show toxicity or a consistency of disrespect 2They open late after 3pm. But I dont think it was advertised online. So sometimes we went there and get disappointed when its closed.
Everyone hates this restaurant for a reason:REALLY BAD service. Apparently the waiters hate their jobs (and perhaps anything else in the world) so much that they are so cold to anyone, even yelling at their own workmates. Whenever you need help from them, they just lower their heads playing their phones or simply looking away. And they automatically add tips to your bill without letting you know—apparently that’s the only way they can get tips. Please, my friends. Let’s BOYCOTT this terrible restaurant. They are making such a bad example for Chinese restaurants in the Boston area — and it hurts the reputation for everyone.
Food was old and worst sesame chicken I have ever had. I would like a full refund. I called and was told to call back . Food: 1 Service: Takeaway Price per person: $30–50
The food was good but the server was so rude to me and my friend when I left a 10% tip she got furious and started yelling at me and my friend in a language we didn’t understand. After scribbling a circle around the tip and pointing at it we realized she wanted more. My friend only had a few dollars and held it out, the lady snatched it and said “that will do” like what we want food not a front row seat into this lady’s villanelle Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
