We had ramen and fried rice for lunch. The ramen was very good but it had a French style to it. (It was different from Japanese ramen...) And fried rice was basically Chinese style but still good. The waitress was very friendly and she spoke really good English and also Japanese! All in all a good experience!
Basically the Ramen here is all i go for. I actually live in Biarritz and make the drive up to Bordeaux to eat Ramen and do a little shopping. Biarritz is dying for a good Japanese or anything non burger or French to be honest... Back to Umami though, the noodles are made on site, the stock is really tasty and the place is cozy. The back room is like a cave with sunken tables perfect for a cold day. Compared to London or Tokyo its not quite as good but being in Bordeaux its amazing and not far off Bone Daddys or Tonkatsu in London. I love the spicy pork Ramen personally. The kitchen is open, they have Japanese beer on tap and its on a great little square very central and surrounded by bars and other great restaurants. If you like Ramen go here.
We went here for lunch. Staff was very nice and speaks English. Price is extremely reasonable. They where even able to accomodate my allergy restrictrions.
Very good food for reasonable prices. Menu consisting of 2 dishes for 15 EUR. Original Japanese food. Attentive and good service. Seats outside in the shadow available.
