We had a lovely dinner at Marcel Bistrot on our first night in Bordeaux. This little gem is located in the centre on the old town. Food was of very good quality and the wine superb! The owner and the staff are super friendly! Excellent atmosphere overall. Highly recommend.
We’ve walked by this busy place many times but never managed to secure an outside table. Until today! Friendly, casual place, several lunch specials, good wine, reasonable prices. My husband’s quiche and my raviole were both excellent, and just just the right amount. Relaxing spot on an interesting street.
Stumbled across this delightful restaurant more by chance. Simple menu serving fresh local cuisine and the ubiquitous canard! In a city where the service has been indifferent at times for us here at Marcel it was exceptional. Make time for a relaxed lunch and enjoy the people watching and ‘chickens’!
This is a very busy terrace restaurant in the heart of Bordeaux which serves French Cuisine. My understanding of French is fairly good but when asked by a dark haired gentleman waiter/owner if we would the menu in French or English, I did ask for English as I though it would be easier for my young daughter to understand. I was met with a 'oh you don 't speak French!? ' so I smiled and replied 'oh yes, a little! (certainly enough to read the menu/order etc. to which I was informed 'but not enough '... Normally this wouldn 't have bothered me, but it was said in such a condescending manner it left me feeling a little put out. Perhaps it wasn 't meant that way, but I rarely get offended and I always try my very best to communicate in the local language. Anyway, we ordered this time with a much more smiley and attentive silver haired gentleman who was very helpful. The starters were very nice indeed. My husbands and daughters main food arrived a little later on and were very nice, but my duck 'plat de jour ' did not materialise. After a while I checked politely and was advised it 's on its way. Sometime after that it transpired they had run out of the duck. Had I not checked I think they would have perhaps forgotten me altogether. I had to reorder and was told at least you have the wine in a jokey fashion... True! I ended up having the white fish after the rest of my family were long finished. It was very nice however. The food was good quality but the two gentleman could definitely do with another pair of hands on deck as the service was a little slow and inconsistent.
