Cafe de Centre - Bollezeele

My wife and I have been visiting the Café de Centre in Bollezeele virtually every year for breakfast for the last 12 years. We call it the 'allo, 'allo café alt... read more My wife and I have been visiting the Café de Centre in Bollezeele virtually every year for breakfast for the last 12 years. We call it the 'allo, 'allo café although that description belies the welcoming nature of the place. This was our first visit in the summer so took advantage of the outside seating area. Their Café au Lait is second to none and a quick visit to the Boulangerie across the road to get a croissant each for me and my wife to dip into our coffee makes it even better. The fact that this practice is encouraged by the Café owners makes for an even better experience. We never stay in Bollezeele longer than a couple of nights at a time but an important part of our visit is to this café.

Really great home cooking - terrine she's made herself with salad fr... read more Family run brasserie, with fabulous waitress, keen to try out her English on "mes Anglais". Really great home cooking - terrine she's made herself with salad from her garden. Really super steaks, and joy oh joy, home cooked chips. Creme brullee was excellent and not fiddled with - it was just super creme brullee. Décor was old fashioned unfussy French and great for it. Eat here. It is fabulous. (and it is full of French people who know a thing or to about where it's best to eat)

The starters were nice but too big for us ... Main courses were excellent steak, lamb, and gammon all cooked to perfection with a range of vegetables and chips ... The lamb cost a supplement but was superb, falling...off the bone ... Desserts were equally nice ... The service was a delight ...enthusiastic and eager to please ... We found this place whilst driving through but it is worth seeking out
