I have been frequenting this Chinese restaurant near me for the past 20 years. The quality and taste of the dishes at this Bolingbrook establishment are always reliable. There is a wide variety of options available for both kids and adults to enjoy.
Tried this place because golden chopsticks closed and was highly disappointed. I wasn’t a fan of the shrimp fried rice. The vegetables used in it were clearly frozen and not fresh. And the rice itself was dry. The 2 stars are only because I enjoyed the crab Rangoon. And the lunch portion was large. But they also only offer you a spring roll with the lunch special and charge more to get an egg roll.
The orange chicken was overcooked and chewy, lacking flavor. The pepper steak and Mongolian chicken were mostly vegetables with very little meat. We spent $50 and felt like we didn't get our money's worth due to the lack of meat in our dishes. Additionally, they charged for extra sweet and sour sauce but only provided a limited amount for free, while offering an excessive amount of soy sauce. As a chef, I know how to make these sauces from scratch and felt that the restaurant was unfairly overcharging. Despite the clean environment and peaceful atmosphere, the portion sizes and pricing were disappointing.
I've been here a couple times for takeout and so far have not been dissapointed. Huge portions and food that actually has plenty of flavor unlike some of the other Chineese restaurants I've been to.Vegetarian options: There are plenty of great options here if you are vegetarian as long as you enjoy tofu. I got tofu both times and it was greatKid-friendliness: It's a small locally run establishment. Your kids will be safe and welcome here
Food is fresh, and the restaurant is very clean. The dishes are well prepared, and tasty. I would love if they added a section of the menu that would have some more authentic Chinese dishes. So far I have tried the Mao Pao Tofu, and the Mu Shu Pork. Very happy with both.Looking forward to trying something different next time.I definitely recommend this place.
