The egg rolls are delightful, and the General Tso's chicken is quite flavorful. However, I found the pepper steak to be rather underwhelming.
I've noticed a change during my recent visits. The chicken and broccoli dish now contains very little chicken and no longer includes carrots and water chestnuts. Instead, they've replaced them with onions and reduced the sauce, making the dish a bit dry. When I asked for extra chicken, it cost $4.95, which seemed expensive considering you can buy a whole chicken at Costco for the same price. I also felt the portion for the extra chicken might have been flexible. It's unfortunate because the staff is friendly and the service is excellent, but the food quality has declined lately.
I was really disappointed tonight. My usual Mongolian beef was bland and lacked the advertised spiciness. There were far too many onions, which overwhelmed the dish—I usually like onions, but this was unpleasant. Additionally, the Singapore noodles had no heat at all. It’s a shame because this used to be one of my top two favorite spots, and with Golden Chopsticks closing next week, it looks like Bolingbrook will be left without any good Chinese restaurants.
This was my first time ordering from Sesame, and although the Mongolian Beef was okay, I was disappointed to find the onions served raw in the sauce. There were more onions than beef, so I couldn't finish the dish. I've experienced much better versions on the menu at other restaurants.
