We have eaten at SLG numerous times, but our most recent visit was for Valentines Day. The food alone is reason enough to go to SLG, but the service atmosphere are always top notch, and make it feel like a special occasion. The food at the last visit was delicious as always, and presented in a timely manner, allowing us to enjoy our time visiting and yet not feeling rushed at all. The seating was spaced nicely, allow... What Isaac Mohr doesn't like about Saint Lawrence Gridiron:
We sat at the bar and tried to get served. Finally left after about 10 minutes. Just an odd overall experience of being ignored. Disappointed as we were looking forward to some seafood View all feedback.
This restaurant in Boise is truly outstanding, featuring a unique and creative menu alongside some of the best BBQ around.
Overall, the food was quite good. The pickle board was a standout and I would absolutely order it again. The brisket sandwich was tasty, but it tended to be a bit dry unless you added extra sauce. I was also disappointed that the fat wasn’t trimmed off the brisket; I had to take apart my sandwich to remove a thick layer of fat, which was not enjoyable—nobody wants to eat that much fat! Additionally, I found their meat platters to be on the pricey side—$35 for a BBQ platter feels quite steep.
The menu differed from what we saw on OpenTable, with fewer options and higher prices. The Happy Hour prices advertised on OpenTable were not applicable. The service was good, and the drinks were decent, but the food ranged from bad to mediocre. The worst dish we tried was the Mac and Cheese (which we ordered for our daughter). We won't be returning.
The restaurant's atmosphere is in need of improvement. Upon entering, the air seemed smoky and the tables and chairs appeared to be cheap. Our seating area had stacks of boxes in plain view, and one of the restrooms was closed, causing a long line for the only available one. There were reports of a clogged toilet, so we were hesitant to flush. The restaurant could benefit from some updates or simple additions like plants to enhance the ambiance. The floors were dirty, and we had to request them to be wiped down. The food was average, but not outstanding. The most disappointing aspect was when we asked for a refill of ice tea to go, and the waitress hesitated before informing us it was a one-time exception. With so many other dining options in the Treasure Valley, there is little reason for us to return to this restaurant. Overall, it may have been a one-time visit for us.
Our first visit and we took a group of Rez was made on OpenTable, we got a reminder and a confirmation. Seated quickly, drink order was take shortly after. Drinks were great! Our app dinner order was taken and delivered timely. Our table had the poutine, ribs, brisket, shrimp and fried chicken...some of these in different dishes...all were excellent! Most of the food has a little spicy kick to it, so ask your server if you don't like that kind of heat. I like a little heat and I tried most dishes at our table, none were too much for me. My dad doesn't like heat, but he loved the jalapeños on his burger. Absolutely going again!
