I used to like this place pre pandemic. It’s gone downhills. First of all, as you arrive you are greeted downstairs by a person that keeps you waiting at the bottom of the stairs until another person shows up at the top. Only then are you allowed to walk upstairs! The service is ok, I agreed to pay for the service but it was not worth it. The server never asked if we wanted to include it by the way! Neither did he ask us if we enjoyed our food … He never bothered to offer a second glass of wine which we would have had. The food was good but the dessert choice is appalling! 3 desserts and that’s it! My Beef bourguignon was a little fatty for my taste (I’m French American) All in all, a VERY disappointing and OVERPRICED experience. I shall not return.
While this place is not cheap you get what you pay for. This restaurant has Colombian and French influence. The service is literally perfect. My wife and I splurged and ate the tasting menu. Every single plate had very strong flavours mixed together. Highlights for me were the lionfish ceviche and the lamb. The wine pairings were amazing. If you are in the mood for some high quality molecular gastronomy food this is the option you.
Yesterday I went there to celebrate my sister's birthday with my whole family, a total of eight. This is my opinion of Criterion. Environment: Modern furnishings. However, if you go with older people the stairs are very inclined, so you need to go carefully on or off. Toilet is down stairs (only) and you need to help your parents when they decide to go. Music is not noisy what is good to have a good conversation, more variety will be better. Service: The waiter was helpful and knowledgeable in all dishes and ingredients. However, the food took 1 hour to be ready and they do not ask if you have any allergies or food preferences to advise you better on your food selection. Then for what boss Jorge claims is not to the point it should be. Food: 4 of us ordered the beef Ancho Argentino (Bife de Chorizo) in various terms, from medium to medium good. The presentation was good. But the four of us were very disappointed, the beef was dry and hard and the taste was not on top. You can eat it, but for the price you pay it is not worth it. They served it with Tuetano who had a bad taste for me, roasted potato and spinach with cream. So, if you are lactose intolerance, you will be done for the night. I had to change the spinach with cream as I am lactose intolerant The other dishes, salmon, were not bad, but I tried for less better. Generally, all other dishes had the same kind of accompaniment. Although they are beautifully presented when you are looking for innovation, you get more of the same from other restaurants in a less expensive scale. From 8 was the only court that was good. Mero... I didn't try. My trouble did it and I trusted his good taste. In short, I didn't complain to ruin my sister's birthday as she picked up the restaurant. But I wouldn't recommend going to this place. There are plenty more restaurants in Bogota in the same price range with so much more innovation and much better food than Criterion. For example, Galeon or El Cielo.
Very cool venue with smooth service and excellent cuisine. Totally satisfying dining experience. ‘
