We called up on a Tuesday and although they aren’t normally open on Monday or Tuesday, they said we could come for lunch as they had a tour group in. So it’s worth calling up even if they are closed that day just in case!...Barramundi was delicious and the service couldn’t have been more friendly. They took us in to see the pet barramundi in the tanks which our baby loved. Gluten free options and a good kids menu too... View all feedback.
What Vienna Barone doesn't like about Cookabarra Restaurant and Function Centre:
We didn't do a tour, but we went for lunch which was pleasant but the prices were a little high for a lunch menu, and we walked away spending as much as we would on a dinner. The portion of Barramundi for our main small piece, but saying that it's fine if you don't eat much. I would recommend just buying the full Barramundi, as you get a whole fish for the same price. Lovely location though..very relaxing, and we enj... View all feedback.
A coach tour for lunch and the barramundi farm guided tour. The great meal was served on the veranda. Our guide was very passionate about his fish and hydroponics farm. A good and informative day.
Great Service, friendly staff, beautiful meals and an awesome atmosphere. Had a lovely day with family! I definitely recommend this place ☺️☺️
Fast services, great pizza and Barramundi fish which they have their own farm. The spaghetti is not good though. It's bad that we missed the Barramundi farm tour since we're running out of time.
Great setting and wonderful food - we were impressed. Even a choice between one fillet or two depending on your appetite. Small selection of good wine at a reasonable price. Organic salad grown on site using the waste water from the fish farm. After lunch we went on a tour of the attached fish farm and saw how the fish are grown, the incredible science and care that goes into the preparation of the fish we had just tasted.
While they serve a variety of dishes at Cookaburra, let's face it, come here for the fresh fish and you will not be disappointedThe setting is gorgeous. I remember years ago, you could have a fish yourself, but times have changed and now it's all about the restaurant. We arrived just before midday, which turns out as a good move, because they did get very busy.Ordered the Thai style Barra, fish and chips and a kids' meal; all were delicious. The Thai style Barra (which was maybe more Thai 'influenced') was the stand out. Probably best as a share plate (which we did), as it's a big meal.At about $27 - $40 for a main, I felt they were not cheap, but worth it. Such fresh ingredients made for a very satisfying meal. I'd also like to mention the wine, which was nicely matched and not stupidly expensive as many places are these days.If anything could be improved, they ladies waiting the tables could be a little less casual (ie, no thongs), but, perhaps I'm a bit uptight..... we are in the country after all and it didn't make any difference to our enjoyment of the mealDefinitely recommended.
