Steak 'n Shake - Bloomington

No more waitstaff—what a disappointment! I actually enjoyed the experience of being served. Now, you have to order and pay at an automated kiosk. They call your order number, and you pick it up at the counter. You also have to serve your own drinks. This setup has really changed Steak 'n Shake and set it apart from other fast-food places. I visited five years ago, and my fond memories have been tarnished by the low-quality service.

What is going on with this restaurant? They can never get it right! I’m sorry, but they always say it will be a 10 to 15-minute wait, or that their system is down, or that it will take another 15 minutes. It's unbelievable to have experienced this at eight different locations in six cities over the last six months. I’ve now decided to go to Culver’s instead, which our field supervisors have also started using. After 12 years of being a loyal customer, I’m done with this place! Avoid the Bloomington location at all costs!

Eventually, I decided to forget about the drink. I waited ten minutes for my food, only to receive cold fries and a burger that looked a mess. I used to work at Steak 'n Shake for years, and it’s disappointing to see how much it's gone downhill. The staff was rude, the management unhelpful, and the food was cold despite being made fresh. It shouldn’t take forever to get food, especially when there are no other customers. At my current job in a bar and grill, we get food out much quicker and it's always hot and fresh. It's no wonder so many places struggle to find employees—especially Steak 'n Shake! My visit today was just the cherry on top of a bad day.

Needs work! Right off highway should be the best service. Surprise to key in own menu items but figured out. Bathrooms were awful. Water leaks from ceiling several places, possibly freon as it was cold inside. Felt good though.Time to invest in people to help with upkeep. The food was good!

For as long as we waited for our food you’d think it would e been hot. It was not. Everything was lukewarm at best. The fries were old. There was barely any ketchup on the buns. The water tasted funny. Basically we threw $22 out the window. Total disaster of a restaurant.
