Lupita's - Bloomington

We're from Springfield, Illinois, and we don’t have a Mexican grocery store. I've been on a mission to create authentic red sauce, and Lupita's grocery is fantastic! The staff were friendly (we were the only white people there), the produce was exceptional, and they had an amazing selection of dried peppers in various sizes. It's located in a good part of town and was quite busy during our visit. Although we didn’t dine at the restaurant, it truly feels like a local gem!

The chicken quesadilla was tasty, but my husband requested onions and peppers, and they didn't have any peppers available. Additionally, the onions weren't grilled before being added. The staff in the kitchen and at the counter lacked basic customer service skills. I really think if they made an effort to be courteous and show appreciation for customers visiting their restaurant, they would likely see a lot more business. We arrived around 1:30, and it was completely empty. They expect customers to know the exact spot to stand to place an order, but no one seems to communicate that upfront, which leads to unpleasant interactions. Although the food was good, we won’t be returning. They need to learn the importance of valuing their customers.

The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is excellent. I will certainly return for seconds!

I hate this store because if you pay with debit or credit card they charge you extra because they say that how the system work
