I'm originally from Como, and all I can say about Momi Is that it simply feels like home. Love the cooking, love the ambience, love the service...and love Momi and his adorable poddles
We visited this restaurant yesterday with our child and unfortunately left very disappointed. From the beginning, the service felt disorganized. We were greeted with some kind of local joke — maybe we simply didn’t understand it, so no issue there. But then we were immediately seated at a small table without a tablecloth in the farthest corner of the restaurant without even being asked whether we planned to eat or just have drinks. Only after walking us all the way there did the staff suddenly ask if we would actually be dining. When we said yes, they moved us to a proper table. The first waiter asked what we wanted to drink. I ordered a glass of craft beer, and my wife ordered a glass of white wine. He thanked us and disappeared. Another waiter later came to take the food order. We ordered two starters and two mains. After around 20 minutes, we realized nobody was bringing the wine or beer. We asked another waiter, who had no idea about our drinks and told us to wait “one second.” Then the starters arrived. The beef tartare with bone marrow was honestly terrible — the bone marrow had such a heavy unpleasant smell that it was almost impossible to eat, and the tartare itself was extremely bland. The asparagus/spinach starter (some sort of baked cake or flan) was also completely unenjoyable. The main courses were not better. The pasta with truffle lacked flavor, and the beef steak had a very strange texture and tasted mediocre at best. To be fair, we still ate the dishes because we were hungry and didn’t want to create drama, but overall the food quality was very disappointing. The prices are absolutely unjustified for what is being served. I genuinely do not understand why this place is so popular. The view is beautiful — that is probably the restaurant’s only real advantage. Unfortunately, it feels like the restaurant relies entirely on the beautiful view and believes that is enough, without really putting effort into the food itself — which is honestly a big disappointment.
Worth the drive. Literally on the water in Lake Como. The food, the service, the location all 10/10.
