I had made a reservation at the restaurant, but when I arrived, it was unexpectedly closed, so I decided to sit in the bar area. The bar setup was nice, but the bartender's demeanor was quite unfriendly, one of the most unpleasant experiences I've encountered. On the bright side, our waitress was pleasant, and the food was good, but the bartender really cast a shadow over what could have been an excellent lunch exper... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Lady Jane At The Davenport:
The service was excellent, thanks to Mario. However, the food was a bit oily and didn't leave a lasting impression. We tried the seafood chowder and several sharing plates, which I thought was a lovely concept, but unfortunately, they didn't quite meet expectations. Despite this, we had a pleasant evening and it was a refreshing change from the typical Irish pub experience. View all feedback.
Excellent Christmas dinner. wonderful staff who are very friendly and knowledgeable.
I booked the restaurant for lunch. Staff were very offhand and said that I couldn’t have done that, it must be for afternoon tea. When I showed the booking I was given a choice of the dining room or the bar, and very much encouraged to go to the bar. The food was all right, nothing special and the service was extremely patchy. Our main course plates were left uncollected for ages- I think we were supposed to eat and leave straight away. Overall what should have been a treat in a lovely relaxing atmosphere was mediocre.
The restaurant is beautiful with lovely furnishings. The staff were lovely and very attentive and although we ate the food it wasn't great. The Turkey and Ham was a small portion and the top slice of turkey had been put under a heat lamp and so was slightly hard. There was hardly any vegetables on the plate and we only got roast potatoes no mash. My friend had the salmon and he said it was good. We both had the Apple and Berry Crumble it was stone cold I didnt understand this at all it tasted great but why it was cold is a mystery. The cost was €29 pp for 2 courses and seriously it wasn't worth it. I did leave a tip but just because the staff were so nice. For a 4* Hotel this really wasn't a good experience and the worst part is that we normally eat in the bar where the food is amazing I was so sorry I booked the restaurant it wont happen again.
Sent back food three times because they kept bringing out the wrong thing. Overall food is good but service is terrible.
We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon tea. The service at the Davenport was amazing. Would do it again. Just be aware that they only do tea Friday to Sunday.
