So our family of 4 went to the Shelter Belt for Dinner last night and each had different menu items, Pig wings(never heard of these before, but the are fabulous), Steak, Taco grinder and Bulgogi cheesesteak. We all loved our meals and were having each one taste the others food, you know it's really good when you want other people to taste it. Great service we ate in the bar just because it was a little less busy and o... View all feedback.
From the outside it doesn’t look big enough to be much of anything but walk through the door and your first class treatment begins. We timed it well and we’re seated quickly. We could see that like everywhere, they were short staffed so when they brought our water we were ready with both drink and meal orders. We both ordered the Walleye BLT. I had mine with onion rings and my daughter with fries. Let me tell you about our moaningly good sandwiches. They were made on good square bread with a very nice piece of walleye lightly seasoned which was good because it was able to pick up a bit of the smokiness of a delicious thick cut piece of bacon it was atop. The tomato was cut to the perfect thickness to add flavor but not make your sandwich slide all over itself. The finishing touch on this perfection was the aioli spread they used instead of plain mayo. It’s flavor completed everything and added just a tiny bit of kick. Now let me also add something about the onion rings. BEST ever. Not too big to handle. Definitely not greasy or heavily breaded. They too were moaningly delicious. Our server Larissa was a whirlwind of excellence. Always appearing when we needed her and always a smile for all. This was a great experience and wonderful food. If I could have I would have given it ten stars.
Arrived about 4pm, so in-between rushes. The atmosphere was very friendly and cozy. The menu had several dished that you won't find anywhere else, and beckons a return trip to try them out. Especially after getting our food. I had the pleasure to try two of their menu items (I always steal a bite from my partner) and I was impressed. Definitely a cool spot and a great bite.
So good! Stopped in Bismarck for the night on our way home from Montana and Yelp did not steer me wrong with this choice. If you have kids in tow, enter via the family friendly entrance and seat yourself. The world 's friendliest server will be over to greet you in a bit! Try the 1919 root beer legit the best root beer I have ever had! I tried the Rachel with tater tots and it was delicious. Great flavor, not too much or too little of any one ingredient, and the bread was toasted perfectly. Both girls had the vegetarian bulgogi wrap and had a hard time finishing they should have split one! It was spicy too but clearly tasty! We rounded out the table with a taco salad and the taco grinder, a unique sandwich which was the best I 've had in a long time per my spouse (high praise! . A great meal to wrap up a day of travel.
Delicious mushroom Swiss burger on gluten free bun! But the rosemary fries are the bomb! Sat in the lounge. Husband happy with beer choices-they had Bells Two-hearted! Server was friendly and knew his stuff. They make their own soup-chicken curry was nicely spiced. Will stop here again when we're in town.
Good food and unique atmosphere. Perfect lunch break or after work drink spot. Has an 80s vibe.
