Reviews praise Bodega Cantina Birmingham for cocktails, atmosphere and friendly staff; some guests note small, shareable portions and slower service on busy nights.
I had a Brazilian dish with garnel and fish and a creamy cocose sauce and it was delicious. the prices are quite decent, lower than I expected. the service was fast.
This place has a great mood, the staff is very helpful and the eating is delicious. I was a bit indecision to order and the waitress there helped me, I ended the order of quesadillas and guacamole. the food was really fresh and tasty! very recommended and would go back
Very chilled environment, a place with real comfort eating and many veggie options. eating is amazing and there is a beer selection from all over latin america. I will surely go back
Mixed feelings here. My husband and I came here for a lunch date on a Saturday. While we both enjoyed ourselves there were some hiccups that I felt could have gone better. All of the staff we interacted with were very nice however it was obvious they were massively understaffed for how busy it was at the time so the attentiveness wasn't there. When I ordered my meal and a tapas I specified I wanted the vegan version each time but it felt like I wasn't understood and I unfortunately turned out to be right when they took back my Elotes to check with the chef and then made me a new vegan one. Again the staff was nice and corrected it immediately. I had the horchata mocktail and while the flavour was quite good it felt ten times way too sweet. After sipping away at some I added water to it and it made it more suitable for my palette. The spicy rice was gorgeous and actually had some heat to it, which as a Mexican American here in England , I was surprised. The Ancho Mushroom Enchilada was just ok for me. It felt like they had overloaded it with salt and no other prominent flavour. Lastly the vegan Elotes were delicious. The cheese, mayo, and spice were lovely and the Elote was soo juicy! More information
Regulars often order two or three small plates to build a meal — the burritos are a crowd favourite and the vegan elote is frequently requested. The horchata-style mocktail is notably sweet by default; staff are happy to adjust it to your taste if you ask. Weekends fill up early and the bar rotates Latin-American beers, so early arrival or a reservation can help secure your preferred seating (couches and bar stools are popular).
