What Mary Ellen Marino dislikes about Plain Fancy Farm:
I urge you to reconsider your policy of offering the family-style menu only for groups of 20 or more. When I visit Pennsylvania Dutch Country, I'm looking for traditional cuisine, not barbecue and beer! It's truly disappointing. I had a wonderful family Thanksgiving dinner at Plain and Fancy. Reservations were essential for the holiday, and they didn't overbook, which made for a pleasant experience in terms of noise and crowd size. The staff was very friendly. They offered a special menu for the occasion, featuring two meat options per plate along with all the traditional side dishes and a dessert. I chose the turkey and beef brisket, both of which were delicious and moist. An added bonus is the store at the front of the venue, which has a great selection of knickknacks. There's also plenty of free parking available, and the location is in a charming farming area.
This restaurant no longer accepts walk-up customers. Instead, they only allow groups of twenty or more to make reservations in advance. They made this change 2.5 years ago, but there is no mention of it on Yelp. For walk-in options, they now have SmokeHouse BBQ and Brews available.
I would rate it low because it's no longer simple and elegant; they need to update their offerings.
I wasn’t a big fan of this restaurant, to be honest. It’s a family-style dining experience where you share a table with strangers, which I really disliked. The other diners were a bit odd. The food was decent, but the portion sizes were quite small. I also found it unsettling that they collect all the leftovers and scraps from everyone and put them into a large bucket. It was completely off-putting and frankly, quite revolting. I really don’t understand the reasoning behind this practice.

This is a wonderful restaurant to go to for dinner.

On a positive note, I returned to Good and Plenty and had an incredible experience—delicious food, outstanding service, and reasonable prices. It’s disheartening to see you moving away from your roots and traditions after so many years. I can’t help but think about how much business your gift shop might be losing due to this change. From now on, it looks like Good and Plenty will be our go-to choice!
