We visited Stalla on a Tuesday, and to our surprise, it was quite busy. I ordered the pizza, and my husband went for the chicken parmesan. Although our food took a while to arrive, my pizza came out hot, but the chicken parmesan was cold—definitely not even warm. It seemed like it had been sitting while my pizza was being prepared. We brought this to the attention of our server, Lennox, who promptly fixed the issue. The chicken parmesan returned piping hot and delicious. Lennox really saved the day! Our main server, Madelin, was also fantastic, managing a lot of tables, so we appreciated Lennox’s help. Overall, everything was good. I’m giving it four stars because of the inconsistency with the food temperature, but both the food and service were admirable. We’ll definitely be returning!
March 2022 update: I recommend making reservations at least 2 weeks ahead of time if you’re coming on a weekend. Seems like the reservations fill up fast. They did have a waitlist for people, but I’m not sure how long the wait was. Service is alwaysexcellent. Food is still great though our pasta had some undercooked pieces on our latest visit. It was also a little toosalty. Original review: The food was awesome. Complimentary bread comes with three dips.
Overall it was a good experience. However, our table was not properly set when we sat down we were missing items. Our server took a while to come over but she did apologize. The calamari was good but I did not like the chicken parmigiana. I expectedmore from this place. I’ve made better at home. The chicken was very bland. There was barely any cheese covering it and thespaghetti was bland as well. I didn’t even eat the spaghetti the sauce was watery not thick and robust. It tasted likesomething out of a can not a quality restaurant. My sister had the same and felt the same. My mom and cousin enjoyed the Italianwedding soup. The bread was good also I was just really disappointed by my meal.
We each ordered the chicken marsala. I guess our Italian dishes from St Louis are quite different as this was bland, tasteless, and the chicken tasted like it was microwaved or boiled. The sauce had zero flavor and the chicken was rubbery. We had pizza the last time we dined and it was very tasty. I would not order this dish. After our appetizer was delivered by the runner, we had no plates to share the dish. The waitress took our order and disappeared . We won't be back.
I've dined there a couple of times. The first time I ordered the special, which was pork tenderloin. It was cold when it arrived, had to get it warmed. It was really good, but would not expect to receive cold food in at this type of restaurant. The second time I ordered the chicken piccata and did not care for it at all. The breading was peeling off it, not crispy at all. I did not even eat it. I don't care for the bread basket and dipping sauces, that can go away. My main issue with this place is that you are forced to sit there for a *very* long time. Everything is soooo slow. I don't know what the issue is, but it is tiring. Both times we ordered dessert. The first time we ordered cannoli to go and waited at least 30 minutes should have left. The second time taramisu and it was taking so long, so we left. Desserts should be out within a couple of minutes. This restaurant would make a lot more profit if they could figure out how to turn the tables quicker. It is ridiculous. I do not plan to go back the next time I visit Beau Rivage.
