Was Anonym at Mao a mag?
I was very surprised by the good. Within this type of restaurants and considering that I went from the menu of the day, I found myself very agusto with a quiet atmosphere, modern space, fast and friendly service and a great price of quality of relationship. View all feedback.
Although they promise to serve some of their dishes adapted for vegetarians, it is not true. They served me an starter with crab and my main dish came with some small pieces of chicken. Is this a proof that they cook veggie and not veggie all together...?
The restaurant looks quite fancy from the outside but the prices are very moderate. The service is fast and smiled, even though they don't speak English, they have English menu and there was no mistake with our order. I think it deserves far more than 3,5 stars it has now.
I got sushi which was fresh and well made. Husband got chicken dish which he really liked as well. great service and ambiance. Little bit out of the way from the main central city but worth the wandering to find. We were dressed very casually but others in the restaurant were dressed business casual dress for dates.
Good sushi, price OK. Unfortunately bad WiFi I don't need 100 letters so I have to tell you the wether here in Bilbao is scattered but warm ;
I was looking for a Japanese restaurant in Bilbao, and decided to try out Mao. The interior of Mao is gorgeous, modern and minimalistic. I can appreciate when a restaurant has ambiance, and Mao certainly does. We were immediately seated around 9PM on a Friday, and got in at a good tiime--the restaurant was filled up by the time we left a couple of hours later. The service was quick and friendly, no complaints whatsoever there. The food was nicely presented, we started with Miso soup, which is hard to mess up, and Mao's was just as good as any other I've tried, then we moved on to the Hot Philadelphia roll, Dragon roll and Kani roll. The sushi was good, not the best I've ever had, but I've tried quite a bit of sushi in my lifetime. I especially liked the Dragon and Kani rolls. They were fresh and beautifully presented. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was disappointing: it was strips of dry chicken breast doused in a watery teriyaki sauce. I've had much, much better chicken teriyaki than this. Also had the house red which was nice, and dessert: green tea ice cream, and fried chocolate-banana rolls. Both were delish! Would I go back? Sure. But, I'd be interested to try out other Japanese restaurants in Bilbao first for comparison.
