We go here a lot, mostly for drinks before or after eating. they can sit out all year round, but the inner is cozy and comfortable. we enjoy their tasty baguettes at midday when we are on the way in the city and have to raise the feet and refresh us. it’s a bit smaller than “Big Alex” on top in the altshadt, but I prefer the intimate atmosphere in “Little Alex”. it is our best option for a last drink of the evening with friends before we go on the way and separate away. the location is very convenient for one of the central tram stops, as all four tram lines lead through the rathaus. a real favorit, although the service can sometimes be a little slow.
Caesar wrap with homemade chips (crisps) was very delicious. Chicken korma was spicy than most places.
A great place to meet friends at the beginning or at the end of the day. book them for a Saturday breakfast or there will be no room. a huge selection of hot and cold buffets to breakfast and eat them as much as they can, they will make it all day! the Saturday had a strange choice, but I must admit that I really enjoyed my rose cabbage with rührei! They also make great cocktails when they left against the end of the night.
Because my man is a wonderful cook, most restaurants cannot impress me. alex is an exception. we had a wonderfully tasty dinner there at midnight and it looked so special and not least: nice staff. no tired waiter who wants to get rid of these nightly customers, but a friendly host who liked to talk to us. I think you should look in.
I used to live in bielefeld and this was my first visit since my move to Britain in 2008. I have eaten this week twice here (16 and 19 February 2015). I ate at the first visit with my family at lunchtime and eating was great and our waitress - I think her name was jennie - was great, very friendly and offered us an English menu to watch. I can read German much better than speak, but it was nice to have the option of a menu in English. we ordered a few drinks and then our food. the drinks came fast and don't eat long after. that was great, my daughter had a child's dinner and it was huge. we visited the alex bar a few nights later after we had eaten to the evening, and this time only had a few drinks. my man wanted to sit outside - although it was very cold, so we sat under the heaters and laid the provided cover on our knee. jennie, the same waitress that had served us 2 days before our meal, was again our waitress and remembered which drinks we had ordered at that time - which was nice. we ordered other drinks this time. we asked her about the breakfast buffet standing on a plaque in front of the bar. jennie told us very detailed how the breakfast buffet was, so we decided to have it the next morning. the breakfast buffet was great, so much choice and also plentiful. for us three (2 adults and one child) it was less than €18. I can recommend alex bar warmestly and jennie is also great - a merit of the alex bar! in the hope to visit bielefeld in summer again, we will eat here with certainty
