The atmosphere was lovely—exactly what you need to escape the city. The employee who served me was really friendly and made my experience even better. Based on my visit, I would highly recommend this place!

The eclectic mix of furniture appears to have come from various thrift and charity shops, adding to the overall comfort and style. The beer is fantastic, and the atmosphere is inviting, with plenty of space to relax. I highly recommend trying the steak and kidney pie served with mashed potatoes, peas, and gravy.

The Pretender has undergone a makeover since it was known as Langley's, and now it functions as a bar with a restaurant attached. The bar area is decent, featuring colorful sofas and a few small TVs scattered around. I tried the carvery but wished I hadn't; the meat portion was very small, and the peas and parsnips were only partially cooked. The potatoes were also quite dry. Around 10:30, we were asked to move from the restaurant to the bar area, which felt a bit strange.

I do wish they offer... read more I had the pleasure of dining at The Carvers twice in one week, and both times, the turkey and pork ham were incredibly moist and delicious. I do wish they offered leg of lamb! The selection of vegetables and condiments was impressive. The giant Yorkshire puddings were fantastic, and there was plenty of gravy to go around. I also tried the treacle pudding for dessert, which came with unlimited custard. Overall, the service was very friendly, and the value was excellent! I will definitely be returning.
