What LizDebP doesn't like about The Robin Hood:
We were a bit disappointed that this nice pub did not live up to the reviews. My steak, chips and peas was very nice but my partner said that his stew and dumplings was a bit too salt. Beer was good though View all feedback.
My friends and I visited The Robin Hood on Izane Road after the heartbreaking loss of our traditional village pub in Wiltshire due to a fire. Despite our heavy hearts, this charming little pub provided a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that allowed us to briefly escape our troubles. The quaint "village pub" vibe of The Robin Hood was exactly what we needed. We were impressed by the unique decor, especially the signs in the men's restroom. Thank you for providing a rare gem of a pub - keep up the good work! Best wishes for the future.
During a visit to see my sister, we were taken to this outstanding pub that has become a regular lunch spot for her. It reminded me of the pub I used to work at years ago, which was the heart of the village and where everyone was welcoming. The charming landlord greeted us warmly and made us, strangers, feel right at home. The food was exceptional, with generous portions and a menu that was both approachable and interesting. Each of us ordered something different and all the meals were excellent. My sister, who is recovering from a major illness and can't eat a lot, was accommodated in a thoughtful and respectful manner that didn't make her feel picky or uncomfortable. The only downside for us was that the pub is two and a half hours away! We can't wait to come back and try the pasta dishes that we've heard so much about.
We made a reservation for dinner on a Tuesday evening for 4 people. The service was exceptional, the food was incredibly delicious, and the drinks complemented the meal perfectly. We usually just come in for drinks on Tuesdays, but this time we decided to pre-book a meal a few weeks in advance since they typically only serve food at lunchtime. We were thrilled that we did, as we were served a special pasta dish with slow-cooked lamb that was incredibly tender, flavorful, and satisfying. We want to give a special shoutout to chef Katrina for creating such a fantastic dish. Tony, our server, provided outstanding service throughout the evening. We now can't wait for our weekly drinks, and we are looking forward to pre-booking meals as well. Excited to try the next dish on the menu!
My family and I have been shielding since February 2020 but decided as the weather was nice, to visit an old favourite. On arrival we wore our masks and were greeted by the staff, Tony and Katrina and shown out to the garden area to a lovel table, complete with parasol. The staff were amazing and welcomed us like family. All staff had either masks or visors which helped to make us feel safe, as we were a little anxious. Our orders were taken and the food arrived The food was amazing hot, fresh and tasty and we were asked at intervals if we needed more drinks ect. I cannot say how wonderful this first meal out was and it made us feel as though, after such a long time, that we were getting our normal back. we have enjoyed the food and experience so much that we now go once a week, which my special needs son, so thoroughly enjoys and it is so wonderful that this lovely pub/restaurant is still thriving Thank you all Ray Katrina Tony and staff
Hidden away in a back street of Bexleyheath, this is a traditional family run pub of a kind that was once commonplace just a few decades ago but is now becoming somewhat a rarity. It was originally a Courage house we know that as it still sports the illuminated red cockerel sign that was once a familiar sight all across England and Wales. The pub doesn't appear to have changed much since its Courage days, except that it now has a much more exciting range of ales on offer, mainly from smaller independent breweries, and some local. Food is served Monday Saturday lunchtimes. It isn't fine dining but they offer a decent range of reasonably priced pub meals, including steaks, fish chips, omelettes, burgers, sandwiches, various other snacks plus a few specials. I enjoyed a very good Christmas dinner here for £10.95, with nice turkey, not too dry, and well prepared roast potatoes and fresh vegetables. As you would guess, clientele comprises mainly of locals, but as someone visiting for the first time, I was warmly welcomed by staff. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, it has a real fire as well. This is the sort of place that you wish was your local.
