Keep in mind I’m from the States. A small room, main floor in a small/medium sized-hotel. Maybe 9 tables. Clean, tastefully done. I’ve seen a couple places like this that have a menu that list course 1, 2-3 options then course 2, 2-3 options, course 3, 2-3 options for X euros. Round 1 was ‘squid’ in a pastry ball. It was like squid ink mixed with something inside the ball because it was blackish and out of 8 balls only 1 had an identifiable piece of squid. It was plated on a sauce. I liked it, my 15 y/o not so much. Round 2 I had something similar to roast pork that was cooked just right. Round 3 was a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on a small brownie. I would have liked a large scoop of ice cream because it was delicious. The brownie was only ‘eh’. My wife had a bowl of vegetable soup where the veggies were purée’d. She said it was very good. She then had a non-American style hamburger. Not a bun like we use, maybe a more substantial texture. Lettuce, red tomato (I mention this because I’ve come across some not-ripe tomatoes on this trip) bacon and ham. She said it was very tasty. Very small staff. Young waiter spoke little to no English so he got the desk person to come in with things neither of use could articulate. He was energetic and talkative when we were the only table but it filled up and he got busy.
I was invited here by my local dealer. We first had some tapas as a starter. Not bad, but neither exceptionnal. After that hé recommanded me to take the paella valenciana with rabbit and chicken. It was excellent, genuine and very fresh. One of the best paella i ever had. As a dessert we had an increadible panna cotta. It was firm and full of taste. A welcome surprise.
The restaurant is, from entrance, nice, but the menu pesimo! everything was very salty; we asked for a tataki of tuna that was incommunicable, and then a cod and brocoli noodle that could not be eaten from the salty that was! could be classified as a bad expensive restaurant. the waitress apologized but at no time compensated how badly everything was at the price of 30€ per person without dessert or wine. I don't recommend it at all.
Inside the Ad Hoc Parque Hotel in Bétera (Valencia) ther is a great traditional restauran La Sal, a place with a great team, great attention, very good food, traditional paella and other good recipes. Have a very nice old yard excellent place to have a quite dinner.
My wife took me here for a celebration and I was mortified on her behalf. It was a Saturday evening in August and the outside patio area looked very inviting. However the service was down to one harassed waiter who was looking after about 10 tables. The food when it arrived was just about OK, lukewarm and clearly had been sitting awhile. On another occasion I would have sent it back but as the guest that was not possible! I have no doubt that we struck a bad night that all places have but for a 'posh ' hotel I expected a lot and was severely disappointed.
