Kaylyn's Food For The Soul - Bessemer

First time here but my sister and brother always eat here. I was advised that everything was good. Sunday afternoon, wasn 't very crowded at all but it was a holiday weakened so this may be why. There appeared to be plenty of food on the steam table, however there were not a lot of selections. I picked up several to go plates which included the same vegetables collard greens and candied yams, ox tails and fried chicken. the cornbread was hotwater cornbread and was pretty good. The oxtails were absolutely delicious and they gave a nice helping. the yams were also excellent. a meat and 2 is around $12, oxtail and 2 veggies is around $24. I 'm more than sure we 'll be back.

Meats are only Okay. Veggies are Very Good. I dont eat often here because on two(2) separate occasions, I saw roaches climbing along the counter near food. Once, I discretely brought to server attention. The skinny guy shooed it away, but the short guy at the register (I was later told it might have been the owner) simply observed the interaction with no commennt. I didnt make a scene, I just left. Another occasion, it happened I didnt say a word, just left and went around the corner to another soul food restaurant. .

Was downtown for work at the courthouse. Within walking distance. Wasn’t sure if I was supposed be sat down and waited on, or you get the food then sit down (which is what I did). This food was SOOO GOOD!! I will be in town all week for work, so I’m excited to come back the rest of the week!! 10/10 would recommend. Food is great and seasoned well

This place is one of my favorites for good food. Service is great. It is located on the block behind the Bright Star. The only food we ever eat at the Bright Star would be their Snapper Throats. The rest does not compare to Kaylyn's.

I live right down the street from this restaurant and never noticed it until a friend said I should try. The food was great besides the macaroni. It taste bland, like I was eating noodles and cheese but no cheesy taste or flavor. The chicken was seasoned great. The dressing was good but I've had better. Their prices are great and give you a good amount of food. I will return and try something different.
