The whole evening was very pleasant,... read more Whilst on my annual joint to visit friends near to Besancon, they decided I should spend my birthday evening at Le Chaland. The whole evening was very pleasant, the food was excellent, not a bad choice amongst them. Drinks and other sundris were good too....They even managed to get us a taxi home, which is no mean feat when there isn't a road nearby!

But last Saturday we decided it... read more We've seen this seaside restaurant a lot over the years and the outside had always put us off, it doesn't look like fine dining. But last Saturday we decided it might have some novelty value for visiting friends. Good choice.... First of all they didn't seem to have enough staff so we had to wait a bit. But they gave us free champagne so we don't mind. The food is just as good as a number of other fine restaurants in town and they have the added bonus of great river views. It's really excellent and we will go again.
