Good Italian cuisine is all about its ingredients and the owners of this place seem to have understood that. Classics like pizza and pasta are perfect, and the days special, scallops ravioli was very original. Desserts were a delight as well.Location was great for a summer afternoon, outside on a square, not too busy.Service was just a little bit on the slow side but very friendly, especially with the bambini. What Johannes Siegenthaler doesn't like about Pizzeria Ristorante Molino Thurm:
Good location at middle of Bern center, but for an Italian restaurant, really expensive. We had both a "Home recipe lasagne" which gave me 2 days of diarrea...for 26CHF each + cheapest bottle of wine of 46CHF and bottle of water of 9.5CHF!!! I also had to ask for Bread, bcse else didnt get any. Portions were really small with 2 layers of pasta leafs only...Disappointed...again! View all feedback.
Many options including salads, pasta options, fish and deserts. Clear marking in the menu.
The food was not bad, but the service was beyond slow. We waited close to an hour and it was early afternoon. The ambiance is kinda nice as you can see many people walk by if you're outside. Just the service was slow to take our order, slow to get food and just slow to find people to pay for our meal. No clue where they went.
There is so much competition on what I 'm dubbing restaurant row on this street! So many places were Italian- it is hard for budget-strapped Americans to know which place is worth all the monies, but this place was pretty awesome, especially with our server who spoke no English. The server was so gregarious and friendly, looping in other servers when he couldn 't understand us. He was adaptable; we wanted to sit outdoors but not by the smokers that were in his section so he fussed until he got us a table not by the smokers that was still in his section. Apparently, there was a lot of competition between the servers for customers and he bragged that he was the best (and he may have been! another server nodded when he was boasted and gave us a wry smile . He was also very nice about having to split the check into four for us. The food was pretty tasty and I 'm not saying that just because we were starving. We tried the lasagna, a ravioli, the ragu, and the alfredo- all rich and sumptuous and filling. Was it the very best I 've ever had in my life? Prob not. But definitely above average. The prosecco I had I 'm sure helped it all along. :
Very good Lasagne, you can try it. The system requires me to type more words. Sorry.
Pasta knapp 20 Franken, Pizza 22.
