A fine Italian restaurant in the heart of Bern, near the Bellevue Palace hotel, and a good place for a cocktail or two in their cozy and convivial bar, followed... read more A fine Italian restaurant in the heart of Bern, near the Bellevue Palace hotel, and a good place for a cocktail or two in their cozy and convivial bar, followed by an equally pleasant meal. This was truffle season and Lorenzini 's specials that day were...all focused on this famous fungus. So I started off with their carpaccio with truffle deliciously thin, melt in your mouth marbled beef, drizzled with fragrant and earthy truffle oil and the coup de grace: fresh truffle shaved onto it table side by the waiter (don 't stop, don 't hold back, keep on shaving that 'shroom till it 's gone! . Of course, that wasn 't enough, so I followed this with a veal escallope in a rich smooth truffled cream sauce, again laden with fresh shaved truffle table side. The dish came with a side of a simple risotto which was a great way to sop up all that heavenly sauce. Service was excellent, attentive and unobtrusive and really just a fine place for a satisfying meal!
