Perfect home made, real Greek food. The only problem is that it is a bit pricey
There are always exceptional restaurants that almost insulate my interest in kitchens that I had lost for a long time. In Chinese cuisine this was the Golden in Hamburg and later the Beijing Ente in Berlin. The fact that I rediscovered Greek cuisine goes to the Kalliopea account in Hamburg. These favorite restaurants have been part of the Fragos family's Thalassa since October 2011. The cosy restaurant Kreuzberg, in whose family atmosphere you feel at once, has only a small but fine menu. A few more changing dishes are on black plates on the wall. The opening of each visit is a highlight: roasted bread with herbs, salt and an enormously delicious oil, whose olives grow the Fragos family in Greece itself. I then recommend the varied, lovingly and creatively assembled appetizer board. In the main dishes of my first two visits, in wine lemon sauce swollen lamb and in Mavrodaphne sauce (sweet wine) swollen calf, I was already on site in the swarm. The meat was incredibly delicate, the sauces were finely seasoned. Thalassa kept this standard until today. I also tried the Moussaka by a Mitesser, a court that is not very irritated, but also implemented in perfection in Thalassa. In the Christmas season there is a special dessert or coffee beans: the Greek Christmas pastry Kourabiedes, which is baked in Thalassa with the family-run olive oil. A very special pleasure! I recommend visiting Thalassa in a larger round and order a surprise menu (it will be from 20 euros per person). The Fragos family then serves highlights from their culinary repertoire as well as some dishes that are usually not on the map. Such menus at the festive price also always provided delicious evenings in the three other favorite restaurants mentioned above.
Absolutely no standard Greek kitchen. Very tasty original food. Very friendly service and normal price. A visit worth.
