But when it came time to pay: two chickens plus salad suddenly ten euros? Six for the meat alone and one euro for the salad? Either I'm doing the math wrong, or the cashier studied math on the side. Three euros extra for air? After paying, I get a slip of paper with just the total – typical. When I ask for an itemized bill for the company card, it turns out: the salad doesn't cost one, but four euros. Suddenly. As if the salad had gone on vacation. Hopefully, the extra six euros they squeezed out of me helped the restaurant – maybe they can finally afford a real cash register. Or at least someone who can do math.
