From the get-go we mentioned my partner's allergy and the waitress was very helpful, double-checking each item to ensure it was ok. The food arrived and looked amazing. Unfortunately, my partner had an allergic reaction. Now we know these things happen from time to time - using the same utensils that have touched onions can be enough to cause a reaction. However the handling of this was where it all went downhill. The waitress literally panicked and just repeated that she'd told the kitchen to be very careful etc. However the reaction didn't come from nowhere! After that we were left for 20 minutes while my partner's symptoms worsened until we had to ask for the bill. Then ask again another 10 minutes later. It's a shame because we know this can happen, but it would be so nice if restaurants handled it better. The best case we've had was where the manager was informed and came over immediately to check we were OK etc. We're not looking to sue places or get discounts but it's pretty horrible when this happens and then, to add insult to injury, you're ignored / not believed because restaurants are too scared of the potential outcome.

And most importantly – delicious food! As an aside, the restaurant has a philosophy regarding meat that everyone should take some time to consider.
