Legit Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese people. The rice quality and taste is better than other places in Berlin that I found very authentic. The fish...
Great Japanese restaurant in Berlin. It's not LA or NY quality, but it's pretty nice for Berlin. You even have university from time to time! I suggest a...
There was a lovely buzz and the chefs and waitresses were all Japanese, which added a sense of authenticity to the place. We ordered small plates of prawn tempura, scallop and tofu dumpling and grilled octopus to share. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. It was fascinating to watch the sushi chef work deftly and quickly to order. The sashimi platter we ordered was so fresh the fish melted in the mouth. The only downside to the food was the Californian rolls we ordered. The rice seemed slightly overcooked and had a slightly mushy texture. The biggest surprise was the bill. Having eaten like kings all night, the bill was extremely reasonable. All in all, if we were to visit Berlin again, we’d make a beeline for this restaurant. It was an authentic Japanese food experience with great service and atmosphere.
The best sushi in Berlin. Vety affordable for the quality they offer! Great service, kind and helpful. Highly recommended!
Sasaya boasts one of the best sushi masters in all of Germany. We live in Berlin and have frequented top-notch Japanese sushi restaurants in Düsseldorf, Munich, and Hamburg over many years. Berlin is incredibly fortunate to have a sushi master of this caliber behind the counter at Sasaya. His nigiri are undoubtedly among the best you can enjoy in Germany. On a Friday evening, December 12th, we had the pleasure of experiencing several outstanding nigiri: Hirame (Turbot – delicate and elegantly sweet, with a firm texture and a subtle, pleasant tension. Exceptionally fresh and remarkably clear in flavor. Saba (Mackerel – perfectly lightly salted and carefully cured, with a delicate acidity, succulent richness, and the characteristic, complex mackerel flavor. Hamachi Yellowtail – winter is the ideal season for yellowtail. The sushi master cuts the fish with great artisanal precision: slightly thicker in the middle, tapering gently towards the ends. A single bite reveals the perfect balance between delicate fat and clear, fresh flavor – unforgettable. Chū-Toro (middle tuna belly – please take a look at the photo! Beautiful, practically shimmering. You just have to put it in your mouth and enjoy. A taste that's almost indescribable – you have to experience it for yourself. (Even better than what I ate in Düsseldorf! And let's not forget the shari – the sushi rice. The size, texture, and fluffiness of the rice in the nigiri are perfectly balanced and form an essential basis for making nigiri sushi truly delicious. Many thanks to the entire Sasaya team for the consistently excellent, Japanese-inspired service. Great praise for the sushi master – a real asset to Berlin.
