I was so excited about this place when it opened because I miss onigiri so much! It is more expensive than what I am used to (2.80 for one), but since it is hard to come by in Berlin, I had made it a regular weekly stop. In fact, I buy these things so often that I was thrilled to find out they have a little card you get stamped each time you buy one and after one side is full you can have a free onigiri. Of course I wanted to use my card today, but the lady told me that she had already rung up the onigiri on the cash register and I would have to use my card some other time. Um what? Then she blamed me for not having told her about the card earlier. Excuse me???? The whole transaction takes 1 minute, at which point should I have announced it? For me it would be normal to announce it when it is time to pay. So I asked if she could just delete it and start over. She said, no . Uh that doesn 't sound like a very good system. Shouldn 't the person be smarter than the machine? Sure, she could have just made a note of it and sorted it out with cash later but that would mean she would have to go out of her way like I do everytime I make an extra stop at an Ubahn station I never go to so I can buy from their shop. It really bothers me when places don 't want to honor their own freebie cards, I don 't care what the situation is and don 't blame the customer because you don 't know how to delete something off of a machine. That was the last onigiri I bought from them. I don 't like giving my hard earned money to rude people.
This small food stall sells the best Onigiris that you can get in Berlin. They are super delicious and they also have a lot of vegan fillings (I know I sound like a hipster but f**k it). An Onigiri costs about 3€ and they are all packed separately which makes it super easy to carry them around. Really love that shit.

So hard to find good street food to take away in Germany, and Rice Up offers just that! I tried the onigiri and it's tasty, although last time I made a mess unravelling it out.

This restaurant is in the U-Bahn stop at Schönleinstr. on Kottbusser Damm. Used to pick up fresh Onigiri in the real japanese packaging (which keeps the seaweed wrapper crispy) for work in the morning. Lately, however, they have nearly NO selection in the morning, except for leftovers from the day previous. The worker there explained that they only get the fresh onigiri delivered at 1130am, meaning that the morning lunch crowd is left in the lurch. Rice Up: Please sort out your deliveries!!
Really tastey but way too expensive. I want to go there all the time but I can't justify on something that is just a tiny snack. I could eat at least..
