A number of restaurants in the area. The italian ones seem popular. Tried ranke 2 for its traditional german dishes. Ate outside. We had the ravioli soup and the meatball and potato salad. Soup was a bit bland, ravioli a bit mushy. The meatball was a very heavy dish, along with the potato salad and made it almost a main course on its own right. The mains, we had the schnitzel and the pork knuckle. The knuckle, while large in size and looked tasty with its crisp skin, was very tough and sinewy. It was an effort to eat. The schnitzel was not much to write home about, chips fine. Over all it was a very average meal, all a bit heavy.
I went to Ranke 2 twice during a business trip to Berlin. There is lots of choice in the area but I wanted German food and this had a good menu. I sat outside on both occasions, it was warm and balmy. The service was relaxed but efficient, the food was good and the beer was cold!
I have been looking for a place to eat from schweinshaxen in berlin and found this cozy restaurant. the dish was hearty and tasty. the skin uttered. a pleasure! note a thousand!
