We only used the restaurant for breakfast as we wanted to 'eat out' for dinner. I don't know why this hotel is listed as a Ramada, there is no mention of the name anywhere, inside or out; rather, the two halves of the hotel are called H2 and H4. We didn't go into H2 except to use the bar one evening, but it looked more like a youth hostel than a hotel. We stayed in H4 which is nice and clean with comfy, twin beds, pushed together, as is the German norm. German pillows are quite a different size than British ones and take some getting used to; bigger than ours, but softer, I tried folding mine in half, but that made it too small. Our room was a good size with ample shelf/wardrobe space for our five-night stay. It was really quiet at night, which was very good, but then, we were on the seventh floor, so way above the busy street.Best feature in our room was the fantastic shower - showers, actually, a 'hand' one, in the usual position on the end wall, and a 'drench' one above the head, easy to use and consistent temperature. Our only complaint about the hotel would be that the bar closes early, at about 22.30, which was a disappointment when we popped in for a night-cap on the Saturday evening. We were directed next door, to H2, but were not made to feel welcome at such a late hour, yes, 10.30 pm!Buffet breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, whether you like a typical English, a continental; or a healthy, fruit-and-yogurt type. Not sure whether this is a German idea, or just peculiar to H4/H2 hotels, but there were no large, dinner-sized plates available at breakfast, only 'side plates'. This was actually a very good idea as it prevented food piling and, probably, over-eating. The down-side was that there were no hot plates, so bacon and eggs didn't stay warm for long. There were plenty of waiting-staff to whizz away used plates and cutlery, but don't expect them to be chatty, they're not!Overall, I highly recommend H4.

Ramada Hotel in Berlin is in a very central location. It is within easy walking distance from Alexander Platz. It is very clean and the bedrooms are perfect. The hotel itself somehow lacks atmosphere. The staff are not particulalry friendly. In the morning I was leaving at six to go to teh airport. The breakfast buffet featured a magnificent display of meat products. I requested to just have bread and coffee as I am a vegan. However a rather abrupt staff member informed me that I had to pay 18 Euros and have the large breakfast. She said there was bno payment options to pay for a small breakfast. I made a complaint to the receptionist who tried to resolve it. I was so hungry at the train station as it was too early for coffee shops to be open.I recommend this hotel for somewhere reasonable within a good location of the city. Staff were unhelpful and inflexible.I would definitely not return.

Without knowing, we picked the perfect hotel for our brief visit to Berlin. The Ramada is located in Alexanderplatz. It was our first visit so were delighted to find that it was in walking distance to many of the sights we wanted to see, including some old and amazing churches and the Needle. The Brandenburg Gate and Dome over the German legislature meets was a short bus ride, a 30 minute walk, or an easy run (which we did two times). The hotel is a block away from the train station and lots of shopping and good restaurants. The room was great! It was small but had everything we needed for comfort. We loved the design of the combo closet/shelves/desk and bench. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower was wonderful. It was all very clean and had free wi-fi. The front desk staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, answering questions about transportation to the Wall, etc., and other places, plus recommendations we asked for. They patiently listened to my German, but a fluent English speaker was always available. We felt fortunate to have randomly selected this hotel.

The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to train station, lots of great restaurants and bars in the area and less than 10 minute walk from the starting point of both the tours we did. Room was good standard, a little bit small, great shower/bathroom. No tea/coffee making facilities which I missed. Reception staff were very friendly. Did not opt for breakfast as it was €17 extra per person per night, much cheaper options just down the street. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
