As an Asian who has been living in Paris 13, very close to the Asian quarter, since 2011, I’ve tried many bowls of pho over the years, and this one was truly disappointing. The broth tasted bland and lacked the depth and richness that a good pho should have. It felt watered down compared to what I’m used to, and I didn’t even finish my soup — which almost never happens when I order pho. The service was okay, nothing special. What surprised me more was when I was paying: I was asked how much tip I wanted to give, and it seemed mandatory. It felt like I was in the US rather than in Germany, where tipping usually isn’t pushed like that. The only positive thing I can mention is that the interior is nice. But unfortunately, the food is what matters most, and this experience left me regretting my visit.
