Like all restaurants which had been established for a while, I wondered whether...I'd be visiting what had become an institution rather than sharing the venture it started out as. Absolutely not! Nobelhart Schmutzig is an event, an education and a wonderfully fun night out. If you're in Berlin and are remotely interested in food and dining, it should be at the top of your list to do. Adapting seasonal local produce to highlight otherwise humble ingredients to produce a predominately plant based menu, a lot of theatre in the delivery, some cleverness (almond extract out of cherry stones WTF and some really varied drinks parings kept us laughing and talking throughout the night and boring folks with the story long after it. A lot of the satisfaction came from the unknown and getting the hang of Nobelhart Schmutzig's very distinctive format but, you know what? I'd have gone back later in the week...simply because the night was fun and enjoyable. The final mention was regarding my girlfriend's gluten and dairy intolerance. They accommodated her with no problems through a multi-course tasting menu, which was frankly amazing given the region's historic focus on things like bread and butter. Very skilful indeed and very much appreciated. Overall, a wonderful night out and if you're into your food and dining, a global bucket list entry.

But the main mission is to create food with a touch and trademark representing Berlin . However a good advide would be to expand their ambition. The majority of...courses was unbalanced and overly simplified. Only their pork and potato serving worked to normal expected standards for a restaurant in this range.

It was a fun intimate journey with cozy alpine cabin ambiance, which wasn’t what we were expecting at all. The service was so inviting and friendly. We...loved the backstory behind our wine pairings. And even the simplest plates packed flavor and texture. We could’ve spent hours here and I’d absolutely return on my next visit to Berlin to discover what they’ve created next.

We enjoyed incredibly delicious courses and dishes that truly surprised us with their creativity. The staff's explanations were always very helpful and friendly. It was also wonderful how we always felt welcome and comfortable without it being intrusive. For example, we received excellent wine recommendations without feeling pressured. The option to spontaneously add two more courses to the six-course menu was fantastic. The music was initially a bit confusing, but then it somehow fit perfectly and, given the overall sensory overload, almost faded into the background, which was pleasant. The dining room itself was also very nice; we were comfortably seated, right in the heart of the action, yet still had enough privacy to chat. All in all, a superb evening. Thank you so much!
