Ended up here quite by accident looking for Schnitzel for dinner. We tried to get into one place and (rather rudely I might add) were turned away as it was full. A german couple who were also turned away told us that if we were looking for something authentic German then we should go to Mommsen-Eck and directed us.Staff we found friendly and helpful. 10 draft biers available and then 100 different bottled beers ranging from Czech Lager to Newcastle Brown Ale (although why you would order a Newcy Brown in Berlin is beyond me!)I had the WienerSchnitzel which was very good. My wife had the Special Mix (although she ordered the mixed grill but it got lost in translation) this was not a huge issue as the Special mix consisted of various varieties of German sausage which was very tasty. Main, Dessert and Bier for both of us came in at around 40 Euros.Transport wise its 5 minutes walk from Charlottenburg S-Bahn or Willemsdorfstrasse U-Bahn stations. If you're after something authentic German to eat and drink for reasonable money then this place I would highly recommend.

If you are English, steer clear of this restaurant as it is clear that the staff are rude and have no care towards English tourists in their restaurant. Upon arrival we were met with hostility from one of the waitresses, who the proceeded to kick one of my family members bags under the table for an unknown reason as well as being generally rude due to our lack of German. Then she would go and be happy and polite to the other customers who were German like we wouldn’t notice. When asking where the toilets were, I was ignored by 2 other members of staff and finally our waitress told me where they were in a rude manner which put me off wanting to be there. Not nice food and terrible service.

There was a certain expectation of cultural adjustment to a more German mentality in dining and drinking. The most striking of which being the menu's lack of English. Added to that was a characteristically German stand-offishness, which was best remedied by either speaking or German outright or at least attempting to do so. Being a tourist is offensive in its nature to an establishment which values itself as a cultural institution. If one, as a tourist, is able to adjust to these expectations, the experiance is both unique and rewarding. The beer was affordable yet characteristic, the food was satisfying and appropriately priced. The decor created a cultured atmosphere and added greatly to my enjoyment. The staff were stern yet polite, only needing a firm handed client not put off by the cultural particularities mentioned above. I would recommend this location
