Zu meinen Kalbsb... read more Italiener wie diesen gibt es dutzendweise in Berlin. Wir waren zu fünft und alle berichteten, dass die Hauptgerichte nicht wirklich heiß waren. Zu meinen Kalbsbäckchen, die auf den Punkt gegart waren, gab es neben etwas Gemüse nur Brot, was ja prinzpiell in Ordnung ist. Das Brot war aber so kalt, dass damit auch gleich die ganze Soße heruntergekühlt wurde. Allerdings war es auch im Raum kalt, denn wenn die Tür des winzigen Lokals geöffnet wurde, verlor sich gleich jegliche Wärme. Nicht wirklich gemütlich.Die Speisen waren solider Durchschnitt, das Tiramsu zwar selbst gemacht, aber so gut oder schlecht wie woanders auch.Die Bedienung kam aus dem Tritt, als jeder seine gesamte Speisefolge bestellen wollte - zuerst mussten die Getränke, dann die Vorspeisen, dann die Hauptgerichte geordert werden. Man mag es für charmant halten, wenn die Rechnung handschriftlich kommt - ich vermute aber, eine korrekte Bewirtungsquittung ist nicht erhältlich. Und Achtung: keine Kartenzahlung!Kurz: wenn man in der Nähe ist und nichts Besonderes erwartet, kann man das Masteca e Tasi besuchen, aber wie wir 20 Minuten durch die ganz Stadt zu fahren ist dieses Restaurant nicht wert.

But even without its less-than-stellar surroundings, the star of this small, unassuming restaurant would shine brightly. For me, it 's always a revelation. Every plate is a culinary masterpiece: lovingly and skillfully prepared, creatively composed, and beautifully presented. Fresh, high-quality ingredients go hand in hand with a special style of cooking that you wouldn 't expect from a self-taught chef. Anyone looking for outstanding Italian cuisine—beyond pizza and pasta with cream—should pay Masteca a visit. With Giulia and Giordano, you always feel welcome and leave with the feeling that there must be a food god after all. But be warned: reservations are a must! There are very few tables, and they are rarely empty.
