Feedback
Food was fine once we got it. Almost waited an hour!!! Very poor experience. Staff were nice. Plenty other places to choose.
Admittedly, one can't have high expectations for dining in extremely touristy areas. Restaurants know that most of their customers won't be back, so they have little incentive to deliver quality food or service, and prices are usually inflated. We knew this going in, but we were hungry, the kids getting cranky, so we thought we would just grab some breakfast and enjoy sitting on the bank of the Spree River for a bit. Big mistake! Service was very slow, even though the place wasn't very crowded. This seems inherent to the place given that the tables are across the street from the restaurant itself, but the waiters didn't seem to care much either way. Our daughter did enjoy watching the boats go by, but we also got regular streams of diesel exhaust blowing up toward us from the tour boats. Ultimately, though, a restaurant should be judged on its food. We didn't order anything too complicated, but none of it was worth finishing. A simple cheese omelette: very greasy. A Flammkuchen (Alsacian pizza): tasted like the frozen ones we get at Trader Joe's (actually, the ones from TJ's are better). A broth soup: did the top fall of their salt shaker? The two croissants and jam can't go wrong with that one, right well, they never brought it, and we had to remind them of that when we saw it on the check. If you find yourself here, tired and hungry from sight seeing, don't give in. Walk another 500 meters and you'll be at the Friedrichstrasse station with lots of better options.
