Walked in, after walking around Berlin all day. We were told they are full with a wait list better to come back in an hour. (There were open tables) asked...

What a fantastic place! Cheap German cuisine in the heart of Moabit. Nice service, chill outdoor terrace, huge beers and the tastiest Schnitzel. They have...

From 5 stars to 1. This restaurant is close to our apartment and we've been eating there for 6 years. Before the pandemic we ate there regularly and took family and friends when they visited from overseas. During the pandemic we bought take away often and even xmas lunch as we wanted to support our local and were concerned it may close. But since the pandemic the food and service quality has dropped. The last two times we've eaten there the schnitzels have been overcooked and burnt on the edges. We went tonight for a special birthday dinner which was a great disappointment. The food and service was very average. We gave up on ordering more drinks as the waitresses were ignoring us. The restaurant wasn't even busy. After asking for the bill and waiting for too long for it to come we had to start getting ready to leave before a waitress finally came to us. Unfortunately we will now only see the Fat Angel from the outside when walking past as we won't be eating there again.

Come to Dicker Engel to experience one of the oldest restaurants in Berlin. Running for over 100 years continuously! They have all the essentials: Roulade, Schnitzel, Boulette etc... The atmosphere is pretty good. The service can be a bit slow, and it isn't the most friendly in town, but maybe that is the price of authenticity. I had käse spätzle on my last visit, the firts bites were awsome! Then I realised it was slightly too salted, thats the reason why I only can give 4 stars. The prices are fair but not cheap. My spätzle were 12€. I will definitely come back every time I need a break from fusion foods and need a proper good old restaurant.
