Only thing is that I'm not sure true Italian fish soup would have Salmon in it, but taste, spiciness were great. Rest was ok... menu is boring. Same as in any other touristic Italian place. Didn't see something creative or really traditional that would justify fifth star. Even 4 is thanks to the amazing soup. Service was friendly but gave us 7 euro bottle of water when tap water was ok, no questions asked.

Our... read more We have living in Berlin for the past 5 months and Centolire was a bad combination of being the worst service/food as well as the most expensive restaurant. Our experience started with having to wait 30 minutes before the waitress came to our table to get our drink orders. After choosing our order we were told that two of the item we ordered were not available and had to pick new menu items. It then took over an hour to get our food. The restaurant was not overly crowded - it appeared to just be understaffed. We were not alone in having a long wait for food - tables near us also appeared to wait quite some time.Food was very average and was not worth the price. We started with a chef's appetizer which was to be a mix of different appetizers off the menu. It was basically a platter with a large amount of cold meat. I don't believe it was a good mix of appetizers on the menu, it appeared that they tried to serve the easiest/cheapest items on this platter. For the main course we both had pasta dishes. One of us had a clam pasta and the clam shells were shattered throughout the pasta dish, making it very difficult to eat. We did express our disappointment at the restaurant but were just told that the restaurant only had three chefs for the day, hence the long wait. This is the first restaurant we have been to in Berlin that I would avoid going back to - overpriced, poor service, and very average food.

The antipasta starter was fine, the pasta bolog... read more This marks the worst restaurant experience in recent memory and it wasn’t the food that made things go so wrong. The antipasta starter was fine, the pasta bolognese was okay: pasta good, meat not so much and the panna cotta dessert was not perfect in structure, but smooth in taste. No, the awful experience was the waiters and the incident that followed: Getting the waiters attention at the end of the meal was extremely difficult, to say the least. One of my friends in our group tried to gain their attention again and again, but they looked right through him. Some head waiters just ignored him totally. Highly unprofessional. The final and total disaster arrived when we finally received the bill. After lots of serious confusion where the waiters misplaced my credit card (alarm bells ringing!), I finally got to pay and left pretty unsatisfied. The lowest level of service imaginable. A few days later, it turned out that they have withdrawn the amount from my crecit card twice. It took two weeks before I got my money back, but they finally did return the money, let this be said to their benefit. So, be careful if you decide to visit Centolire: I suggest you pay with cash!
