Quiet and off the main road as it's on the canal. cosy little boat setting and excellent food and service. Staff spoke English and was very helpful and friendly. Made us feel welcome and was good value for money.
We have just planned a quick and easy lunch in Capt'n Schillows. However, when we once said that the sea bass rose is large enough available for two. And what a nice meal it turned out to be. Served fried with... crispy skin, while the interior of the fish was beautiful and moist. Served with fresh vegetables and rosemary salads when it was a very tasty meal that we both enjoyed very much.
I have never experienced this kind of aggression from a waiter to tip. The food was not bad, but not impressive, so I didn't give a tip. I paid with the card that waiter said: “The tip is not included” I nodded my head, showing that I understand. He repeated very loud, almost cried “THE TIP IS NOT INCLUDED” so I said ‘ok’ to verbally confirm that I understand the information. I paid with card without tip. The place was very narrow, the waiter stood at the end of the table, blocked the way for my pregnant woman came back from the toilet to sit down, and stand up for me, and shook the change in his wallet and showed that he still had some tip. I had no change, but the situation was so absurd, I don't think I would have given it anyway. I wait patiently on the waitress left me the table, after ~30 seconds he moved a bit to the left, so I could get up and we could leave the restaurant. But we will not surely return to this ridiculous situation, which is a pity because the place has a charming mood.
The location is excellent. We had a family. The food wasn't great. People very nice. In summer it must be very nice to sit outside.
What a great place to eat. Not easy to find what's brilliant because it keeps the ards away. We literally came from this hidden gem by scissors of luck. We saw a Pilsner shield and followed the narrow way down to the boat. It followed a warm...welcome and we sat fast. First we were just after a cold drink. But when we served the traditional German Fayre, we were sold for lunch. The herrings should die. Good quality food and very reasonable price. We sat on deck under the umbrellas, but there are seats under deck if necessary.
